Because I have a French keyboard with a "tréma" (only a german keyboard would have an "umlaut")

Because I live in a linguistically isolated part of a linguistically isolated country (although not so isolated as it was 70 years ago).
Since I never studied German, why do I use German terms?

Because you can't help reading them over and over again, checking for spelling mistakes you might have overlooked.
Why is there always at least one error that slips through every proofreading and ends up into the published article, however much you read and reread the proofs?
would you check the proofs of my next paper, pretty please?
