What better way to start the new Volleyball than with a dark and stormy night?

Oh #@$% ... I put down for my turn in the commentary thread (wrong thread), and didn't notice kvetch had posted ahead of me (in the other thread).

Oh well ... wasted post.

It's already written, so here it is ...

GENRE: Autobiography

It was a dark and stormy night, back in 1992 - or rather, it was a night for drinking “dark and stormiesâ€

So I don't have to do some _serious_ digging, can someone give a summary of what volleyball is? I'm sure it'll benefit others.

Not to be snarky, but anyone who insists on being lazy, and insists on being spoonfed (in lieu of reading the conveniently linked rules and the past matches above) will be advised to sit quietly on the sidelines ... until they know what to do, and have something worth contributing.

I wanted to say the same, but as moderator . . .

Here is a post for the 2003 Volleyball that summarizes the idea.
Brad wrote:Anyone ever watch "Who's line is it anyway ?"

It's an improv show.

One of the schticks they do is having a few people act out an evolving scene ... and every few minutes, the genre gets changed on them, and they have to continue to run with it, using the new genre style.

It's a lot of fun.

Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to try a turn-based written version of that, where each person takes turns grabbing the story and running with it for a few paragraphs, using a different genre style.

It will probably get off to a slow start, but hey - it could be fun, or it could fall by the wayside and get ignored.

Ok, anyone want to play ?

If so, claim your turn, and start typing. :)

[Faux whine]

Awwww c'mon - I already scored Parlous earlier today, at 10:48 EST, in the WOTD Thread ... well before Kvetch belatedly got around to it. :P

3 points is fine, Mr. Boo. I'm just giving ya a hard time, for giggles.

OK, I can't spell, but quartier is in the original text of Paul Clifford (as is 'comely rotundity of face and person', so I'm afraid I can't take credit for that)

:slap: and I can be such a spelling nazi myself. Next time I'll use a spellchecker. Those ie/ei are my spelling demons.

I have no idea how I came up with the grave bit. I usually don't think I'm any good at dialogue, much less actual jokes.

Hmm, I think I'm going to make an attempt at this. I have a feeling it will be less than successful, but I'll try.

Don't worry about it. You should see my first attempt - it is almost gibberish (my latest one too, actually - I thought I could get away with Genre: No Genre once this year, and I wanted to get the pun on clear in.)

The idea is to have fun, not take it seriously - go for it!

Ghost: Added linkage direct to volleyball 2006 in your post. And removed the 5th in your volleyballl.

And, what, no Volleyball awards this year?

Kvetch, now I am stuck with the idea of Superman with an ipod, having to stop to listen to the latest Britney Spears recording every time he has need of his xray vision.
