Which book?"Thorough as ever, I see."
Who's speaking, to whom ? What is the task being carried on ?[...] Carry on imperfectly, XXX.
What book? Who's speaking, and to whom?"..._____'s holding me responsible for you, and I can't make you do anything!"
Just a gut itch. Most probably wrong.nlbarber wrote:Hmmm....let's see. I'm afraid I don't have a good grasp of what quotes have already been done, so apologies if I should hit a repeat. Let's try this one:What book? Who's speaking, and to whom?"..._____'s holding me responsible for you, and I can't make you do anything!"
No, that's not it. Reasonable guess, though, and I had to go check to be sure LMB hadn't used the same phrase in MD as in my source.Just a gut itch. Most probably wrong.
Rowan says to Miles: "Lilly's holding me responsible for you, and I can't make you do anything!" in Mirror Dance.
BTW. Welcome to our little club.
The pun in german is about "gift" (or rather, since it is a noun, "Gift") which means "poison". Now the necklace was the gift (as in: what you give as a present), and was indeed poisoned.Caroline Tredez wrote:As I was going through past posts to update my list of "already done" quotes, I found a bonus still unanswered.
The quote then was : "And do you know yet who gets the thank-you note for this gift ?", the answer was Vorbataille in Winterfair Gifts, and the bonus was "find the possible pun in German."
(....)
Suzette, you'd better answer now, even by guessing, since Caroline's five days are up....nlbarber wrote:Hmmm....let's see. I'm afraid I don't have a good grasp of what quotes have already been done, so apologies if I should hit a repeat. Let's try this one:

No, not the one. Closer, though.SPetty wrote:I was thinking it was Horizon, with Neeta talking to Dag about going back to New Moon Cutoff, but I'm not finding it. I might have just skipped it over (I was holding off on answering because I couldn't remember her name, or the name of the camp, or Antan Bullrush).
Barr just tried to "persuade" Berry to fire Remo, Chapter 16 of Passage."Remo, Amma's holding me responsible for you, and I can't make you do anything!" It's not fair!"
"Now you know how I've always felt about you."
Hmmmm.. I found it, but I am not sure it is fair. I am presently correcting the third volume of translation that J'Ai Lu is reprinting of the whole Saga, and just bumped into it, not looking for it, and I did not expect it at all...Caroline Tredez wrote:(...)
I've finished reviewing past posts for my compilation, and found a last bonus unanswered, if I'm not mistaken : there are three "Dag"'s mentioned in LMB's works, that I know of, Dag Bluefield, Dag Benin, and ... ?
Well, Nancy did not come back to confirm, but I checked and I do confirm now.Caroline Tredez wrote:Well, everyone had a fair chance :

voralfred, I'll post your half-sherlock for the "Gift" next time I update that thread. No problem! I was afraid you had lost interest...nlbarber wrote:Sorry--guess that confirmation I thought I posted got lost. Or was imaginary. Or something...
B :The trouble with the position, he found, was that in whatever direction you looked there fell away a glassy, uncontrollable slide down to a strange future you would then have to live in.

D :A rose by any other name.
E :The wounded want power, nothing else; they think it will keep them from being hurt again.

K :That was a very, uh, knightly deed.

R :Human being are so fragile.
The quote are literal, but things like quote marks or italics are NOT respected. There's one for each of the 18 works currently making up the Vorkosigan Saga, namely :Biology isn't destiny ?
Not anymore, it's not.
