That doesn't mean you attack all out like *******did. See where it got him? It does mean defense should only be temporary...just until you can destroy your opponent. End of sermon.

Sounds like someone talking to Rhenn in the first Imager book while teaching him how to fight. ... but that's just an incomplete guess to help prod somebody else's memory.

scion of cyador? sounds like recluce, maybe the one in the series where the angels meet the decrepit cyad forces, sorry cannot recall the title of the book, and looking it up feels like cheating :)
