Today I may be halfway to finding out about some of the next layer of relatives (in genealogy) on my mother's side. I found two ancestry.com listings with information on my great-grandmother; they must have been posted by distant cousins of mine (one of them traces descent from my mother's aunt).
Now the problem is to get in touch with these people. I'll try the RootsWeb board public part of ancestry and see if I can make contact. (I detoured here while on my way there — of course).

It's rather unusual, but I went out by myself today, mostly to buy some of a birthday gift for my best friend (whom I ended up meeting while there). It was nice to have some time alone and then while in Hastings meeting up with a friend (slightly accidental). He's hilarious and gave me a good laugh.

The past week we had a real heatwave here, and I had my one week summer holidays that very week! Long, lazy days spent bathing with the children, reading and playing at being a carpenter (installed new door and wall coverings) at the family's near-seaside 50 sq.m. chateau...
And it is quite good to be back, milking the beasts, walking the fields and shopping for equipment. In a small month's time comes second harvest, and things are looking good. The heat has dissipated though...

It is written.

Triplets?
Or do you mean the extended family, three children born to various relatives in just one week (well, couldn't really start with 4, could you? or, three unmarried sisters just having a child each?)
Edit: sorry, I should have followed events more closely: you remarried and your new wife already had 2 children, right?
Do I win a sherlock?

Explanation for my relatively long absence and why I feel good:
Today we put the (nearly) finishing touch on our newly refurnished bedroom (a 32-inch TV my husband can use to doze off to). Now we only need to install two mirrors (1 decorative and 1 full-length for usefulness) and hang/rehang the pictures.
I'm hoping my husband will take photos which we can post for everyone's enjoyment.
One may wonder why a nearly 82-year-old has spent this much money on a bedroom. Well, I've wanted furniture like this all my life and the new furniture adds lots of drawer space, along with looking good. For most of my life, money went for raising the children, various family emergencies, and so on. When Bob (who is much better at financial math) said we could afford it, I thought that it was truly time to go for attractive efficiency.

Today has/will be good for two reasons...
1) this morning I finished a mammoth workout which I have been dreading for the whole week. I chucked myself in the deep in with this training program and it is brutal hell but after I finish it things are great. There might be photos in a few days...
2) It is the engineering ball tonight! Woohoo. I just need some sleep this afternoon so I don't fall asleep at 8:15pm like I did after the workout last Saturday night!

I'm one step closer to receiving my second Master's Degree. I did a public presentation of my project titled California Community Colleges: Student Transportation and Vehicle Carbon Emissions. Public speaking is not one of my strong points, in fact I hate it with a passion. A public presentation is a program requirement, so I did my best. I have one more chapter to write and a bunch of maps to produce, then I have my defense on the 7th of December.
Congratulations and good luck for the presentation. I'm sure you'll do well. You do communicate very well by writing, so why not orally? Just imagine everyone in the audience is a supporter. Just picture my face on all the attendees (on second thought, don't: it would be bad effect to go through your presentation laughing out loud).
