Sorry. Try again. (And by the way, Ecolitan Whaler's nickname is Jimjoy, not Jimbob.)

This one is truly worth a Sherlock. I really don't want to give it away and make the game too easy. On the other hand, I now suspect it may go unsolved for quite a while. It sounds like the majority opinion is to stick with one quote at a time. So should we make this a Cold Quoteâ„¢ and start with a new one, or should we give this one a while longer?

The key to the puzzle is the word "willingness".
As I said before, I'd like to keep the game moving, but I think the game will be too easy if quotes are just given away. I'd rather just post a new quote than to give one away too easily. Unless someone gets the quote right by Friday (2 weeks from the original post date), I'll officially make this a Cold Quoteâ„¢ and post a new one. If anyone objects, post your opinion by Friday, and I may reconsider.
Just bumping this to the current page of the thread.

And a voice cried out from above:

"Nay, for he was merely a disciple of the true master: He who was known as 'the Professional Wordsmith'; He who created great writings for his followers; He whose name was rarely pronounced correctly. And the disciple studied the true master's words intently, and examined them, and reflected upon their meaning, and was transformed inside himself. And thus the disciple passed the writings on to others, that they might also be transformed by the words of the master."

Well, clearly you're referring to Mr. Modesitt.
In the 60’s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

shall i read into this?

"Nay, for he was merely a disciple of the true master:"
maybe the person who said it, or whom it was spoken to

He who created great writings for his followers
either one wrote....

He whose name was rarely pronounced correctly.
his name was hard to pronounce, or others couldnt

"And the disciple studied the true master's words intently, and examined them, and reflected upon their meaning, and was transformed inside himself. And thus the disciple passed the writings on to others, that they might also be transformed by the words of the master." [/i]
thats kinda self-explanatory, i think.

or he was speaking of Modesitt

The Magic of Recluse.

Speaker is Justen

Justen is speaking to Lerris.

They are going off to order sheep after viewing the desolation of Fairhaven.

"White is the combination of all colored light. Black is pure because it is absent all light."
That was something that, strangely, no one had ever mentioned -- not that I remembered, anyway. I nodded for him to continue as we finally picked our way off the old road from Fairhaven...

Congratulations MK. :thumb: The title is actually "The Magic of Recluce", but I'll give you the Sherlock anyway. Your turn to post the next quote.

Come on, MK! :smash: Part of the game is that the winner of the last round has to start the next round. Where's the next quote?

I would like to propose a minor modication to this - if the previous winner doesn't post a new quote they:

1] give up the chance in 24hrs
2] have to sit the next one out...

And
3] lose double the Sherlocks they would have otherwise been awarded

It's a lot more fun and a lot easier to "win" than to post quotes, so it is the winner's responsibility to keep the game going.

Thinking up one now ...
