Where in Candar was Cyad?

Postby jonrpatrick » Fri Aug 13, 2004 7:16 pm

Hey all,
my last new post of a busy over-active Recluce mind night!!

Since TOR hasn't seen fit to update the maps provided in the books through the ages, has anyone figured out where Cyad (the capital of Cyador) was supposed to be?

I'm thinking it was either where 'modern' Summerdock is located, OR (more likely) Dellash. I have a sneaking suspicion that the fact Dellash is an island represents when Cyad was split and rent from the unleashing of the Forest by Nylan...

Anyone ever figured it out more specifically?

Cyad Location

Actually, Southport sits on the ruins of Cyad [or part of them, since Cyad was far larger than Southport is].

that makes so much more sense. I've always wondered about the general location of Cyad and stuff.
Where did all the pretty flames go?

Do you think they know it's a circle?

Diev was sitated where the map says "Diev ruins," on the north coast of Candar.

Lol, thank you, just wanted to make sure, I would have thought they might rebuild it...

So,

sourthport was part of Cyad (Due to the imagery from Wellspring of Chaos ont heir visit to Southport).

Cyador would have been all of western Candar then, from the south of the "hills of Endless grass" (ie, the Stone Hills after Nylan's wonderful help to the forest) to the westhorns and sourth to the ocean.

Then, where are Fyrad? It is mentioned several times that there are three Major cities in Cyador: Cyad, Fyrad, and a third vities i can't remember the name to atm.

Also, it is mentioned that the forest would have slept for 25 to 30 score years unless there was another massive chaos/order focus. Now, we know that the Winterlance caused the forest to awaken, but what was the time table between Scion of Cyador and Fall of Angels? Any direct quotes?

Not to speak of. Remember, that area is in one of the more active sections of the renewed Great Forest.

So like Ankor Wat but no man-made materials visible though general ruin-shapes are discernible?

Nothing visible is left. Fyrad was built on a delta, while Cyad was a hill city on a bay. The cataclysms generrated by Nylan's efforts and the accursed forest turned the delta to jelly, so to speak.
