Haven't read it, don't know it, but am somewhat pleased with myself that I have stumped a few people.

Sorry guys, I was at a war this weekend, so I'm trying to catch up on everything. Figured it could wait since I had only posted the quote on Thursday.

However, due to the overwhelming cry for assistance I will add to the quote. But... I'm now going to need more info for you to get the sherlock (seems fair to me, everything has its cost).

Justice should not be imposed by a mob, nor restricted to those with the credits to purchase the best advocates or the best expertise and witnesses. In a sense, the outrages encouraged and perhaps even instigated by ::title of X::, X, are an example of what can happen when justice is denied.
Now you need the title of the book, the speaker, the title of X, and the name of character X. It's not as hard as it sounds, so start pulling out the under-the-bed storage bins and search for that quote!

reference to 'credits' therefore scifi

maybe 'director of xyz', Darryn Aldwyn - from Octagonal Raven

(It seems to fit, but then it may be an ecologic that I havn't read. ore a ghosts, which I havn't read, or from flash, or the green progression or something else I havn't read)

pure fluke - it was the only character I could think of with a proper title.

since I didn't expect to get it right, I went and pulled a book of the shelf and have taken the first vaguely decent quote I could find. Sorry if it is to easy / obscure
'I had a skill with blades, and perhaps because it upset my mother, and because I was unruly and contrary, I pursued it. They did not encourage it, and it was sometime before I was allowed to follow that road.'
give character and book and who the character is taking to (the book alone will not win the sherlock, but one of the others will)

Creslin in Towers of the Sunset
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you,

Easy, but who's he talking to? The merchant he met early in the book?

How about Alucius in Legacies (just a guess).

Clue: the books is not of the recluce saga

Wow. It sounds nearly verbatim to something Creslin said.

go and find it: If it IS verbatim what Creslin said, you get a bonus sherlock (and the quote remains open)

I didn't mean I didn't believe you Kvetch, I just meant that it really fit with Creslin's story.

I meant I believed that the same passage could turn up twice: I just didn't get it from there. I chose that passage in the hope of red-herringing you. I hadn't thought of Creslin actually: I thought a Cyadorian lancer might have said something similar. I must have been hallucinatng.
