Grats, the book is right and almost the right speaker.

It's The Ghost of the Revelator, and the speaker is Llysette and not Johan Eschbach.

Your turn.

Yipes....now I need to find a quote.....
It is not about fairness in education. It is about power. It is about how places are allocated in select academic institutions, and it is based on the assumption that those who graduate from those institutions will have a better chance of attaining influence and power.
Name the book and the person who is hearing the above statement.

It's Octagonal Raven, about the PIAT. It is either Daryn being talked to buy his relative that 'failed' it, or Daryn to Majora, at the end of the book - I know it's in thre, but can't find it.

EDIT: Frydrick was the name I was looking for, and it ain't him

Here's a fairly easy one, that is also one of my favorite 'deep quotes' - we may even have had it before
Home must be relinquished at the hearth, not at the ends of the earth
who said, and why

That's from 'The Order War' - Dayala speaking to Justen, just before he returned to Recluce.
It's a metaphor of human bloody existence, a dragon. And if that wasn't bad enough, it's also a bloody great hot flying thing.

Heh, sorry.

Speaker and book. please:
That's not morality, it's fear. They're afraid that they'll be called on their actions before they complete whatever new genocide they might contemplate in the future.

Is it Cerryl in The Colors of Chaos?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you,

Oh Hell, Ghost, I could have guessed something that simple. Was that a guess or do you know it to be true?
In the 60’s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

It's not Colors, Here, I'll extend it for you, but you'll have to do more now.

As X has said, "One can but count on the wine one drinks today." And it looks as though he and R will have at least one other day. Beyond that, neither knows.

Ok, here ya go, but you now need to identify X and R. Hopefully this'll be sufficient. The next clue might just give it away so I don't want to post it unless I have to.

It has to be Lorn thinking this, probably from Magii of Cyador.
My guess is while he is on furlogh from the Accursed Forest.
R is Ryalth, his consort, I think X is one of the white engineers he works with. I can't recall the names.
