blank

Pronunciation /blaŋk/
adjective
(of a surface or background) unrelieved by decorative or other features; bare, empty, or plain.

==========

This post is intentionally blank, just a silly prank.

Image

[The word was going to be metaverse, for which I worked up what I thought was a neat logo, but then I checked the topic here at IBDoF and found it had been done. It seemed like too much work to come up with another idea all on my own, so I took the lazy-man's way out, dropping this emptiness into the void instead. For the sake of completeness, you do get to see the logo.]

You might offer to sell a blank metaverse to Meta (formerly Facebook).
I would love to see the blank expression on Zuckerberg's bland face.

When driving in a foreign country, I always try to avoid transgressions of its traffic code. Though I don't always succeed through ignorance or stupid nonchalance, I do try to comply.

Still, once France caught me transgressing at 130 kmph in the rain.

retribution

Pronunciation /rɛtrɪˈbjuːʃ(ə)n/
noun
mass noun
Punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act.

Origin
Late Middle English (also in the sense ‘recompense for merit or a service’): from late Latin retributio(n-), from retribut- ‘assigned again’, from the verb retribuere, from re- ‘back’ + tribuere ‘assign’.

==========

Seek out a different solution
To amend the institution.
There will be retribution
If you ignore its constitution.

Image

[Rambling Remarks: I sense dissonance with the word's meaning, the rhyme for word usage, and the illustration. It may be only my skewed view of the world, of course. I abhor the concept of vengeance, especially when it is multi-generational. Lexico offered up dither] today. That may also have contributed to the lack of clear cohesion among the components of today's WotD post.]

A few weeks after my rainy speed limit transgression, France sent me a polite letter offering to absolve me of my infraction, provided I paid the compulsory retribution.

But they did offer a 20 % rebate if I paid the fine before a certain date. Rather nice of them, considering I actually was speeding well over the limit.

I'm afraid you both don't have any respect for me anymore. This would be a just retribution for the transgressions I have committed, not interactiong for so long.
So I boggled up, sorry for my lysdexia, gobbled up, all your previous posts since I last posted.

Lest I return a blank, I summoned (meaning 2) all my imagination, in order to provide some autumnal ambrosia to this thread, but I fear my post will be one more sepulchal monstrosity. Hopefully you will not be stroppy and spare me too many insinuendos.

Wouldn't it be hilarious to attempt bracing a firewall with sticks of dynamite hidden inside giant granadillas ?

No, I am not guttered, but a bad cold (not Covid, as verified by an "antigenic test" a few days ago) is blocking the "normal" functioning of my brain, producing even worse word associations as usual....

Ss.. (me: sneezes) somewhat, but mostly (cough-cough) a Pharingal Tunnel Victim. All thanks to my grand-daughter. With all thus business with masks and "social distanciation" we had managed to avoid getting sick for almost two years, but a baby that attends day care weekdays is a health hazard on week-ends.
