I know the answer! I had to search through the audiobook for it cause all my physical books are packed 1500 miles away from me right now.

BUT I can't answer til Sunday. So keep looking!

Book ?
First speaker ?
Second speaker ?
What is "it" ?

Two hints to beat orchestrali on the finish line?
- "it" is something that took place between the two characters just before this dialogue
- the first speaker appears in several books, but far fewer books than the second one
Human is as human does....Animals don't weep, Nine

Ok, got it. It wasn't where I thought it would be in the book, so I waited to post until I had time to find it a couple chapters later.
"Was that real?"
"Well --it' a little irregular. But from what I've read of our history, I can't help feeling it's closer to the original than the official version."
Book ? The Warrior's Apprentice
First speaker ? Baz Jesek
Second speaker ? Miles
What is "it" ? Miles has just sworn Baz in as an armsman

Time and past time! I'm terribly sorry for making everyone wait so long.

Here's an expansion:
"Ah, but if you succeed, XXX! Have you given thought to what you will do after?"
She looked away uncomfortably from that dark, intent gaze. "After is not my task."
Book?
First speaker?
Second speaker?
After what?

Note: XXX is a title; it's not necessary to identify it (unless you want to, of course  ).

It sounds so familiar! But I'm about to start a 7-week German program so I can't get myself entangled in quotes right now. Even if I could access my LMB books to search. Soooo I'll be back in August, hopefully.

I haven't the faintest idea. So I searched for it. I mean I let my computer search for it.

Of course now I disqualified myself and I can't tell the search results either.

So maybe another hint for the other players?

BTW. Orchestrali, Will you be going to Germany, Europe?
If to the region of Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf or Köln, I might visit you. It's just a bit more than a stone's throw from Belgium, 3-4 hours by car, with the normal dense traffic.

OK, so I try, just guessing

Paladin of Souls
di Cabon
Ista (XXX=Royina)
After destroying the master-demon that leads the Roknari

I am away from home, and with irregular web connection. And away from my books of course. So I'll be happy to leave the next quote to whomever finds the fourth point, since I am baffled. The sherlock in such a case is usually shared....

Lord Illvin instead of di Cabon?
If this is correct, I'll try to post a new quote when I have a good WIFI connection, but I might be slow in checking the answers....

OK, next quote but I may be a bit delayed to check the answers...
In those mirrors, I am altogether beautiful, XXX realized warmly. Much more flattering than the one on the wall upstairs. I shall use them to see myself from now on.
Italics are a thought.

Book?
XXX?

All three answers are wrong, but I like your way of thinking...

In fact, only one word is correct in EPS's answer but just for this word he is entitled to 1/2 :sherlock:
I'll update it as soon as someone (possibly himself) finds the three correct answers (which must include one word from EPS's answer) for the other half and the next quote.

EPS: I/2 :sherlock: for just one word... you are not cheated, this time... !

My guess would be Barrayar, Cordelia, and Aral's eyes.

I was pretty sure the last one was in Paladin of Souls, but I couldn't find it and life got busy. It's nice to know that I was right. :D

Correct on all fronts !
You get the next quote but only 1/2 :sherlock: since I consider that EPS by mentioning eyes, even if they ar enot Roic's, deserved 1/2 :sherlock: jut for that

I dunno. That looks more like 1/4 of the answer. I don't want to mess up the Sherlock thread by added more complications, though, so I'll live with half a Sherlock.

Next quote:
"All the geniuses I ever met were so just part of the time."
Book?
Speaker?
Context?

I consider that EPS, by guessing the "mirrors" were a loving person's eyes, has made a significant contribution to solving the question. Besides, there are 1/2 points but there has never been any other subdivision of :sherlocks: ...

Book : IBDoF, subforum LMB Quote Game
Speaker : me
Context : EPS has been a genius for just part of the time...

I was joking about the 1/4 Sherlock. Besides, you've rounded me back up to even numbers, so I'm happy. :D

Alas, the quote is from a book, not the forum. Try again! :D

"All the geniuses I ever met were so just part of the time."

Book?
Speaker?
Context?
I guess I can add that the speaker is a somewhat significant character in the above book, but is not a significant character in any other book. The person to whom s/he is speaking is a significant character in this book, and appears in other books.
