That third hint makes it quite obvious, doesn't it? I was originally thinking it was Ista arguing with the Bastard, but I hadn't had time to look it up.

Still no one? Ah well, then.
It's from Hallowed Hunt, where Ingrey is arguing with the Son about cleansing Boleso after what he did. Ijada is the one who scolds Ingrey for it.

And I'm leaving the bonus alone so I'm not hogging ALL the Sherlocks. :)

:) Any answer would have been good. I'm not even sure myself how Abbott Monreale thought or spoke of his Lord.

Anyway you won the main point and the next quote/task/riddle, whatever ...

Next quote then:
"So that's what those are!"

What book?
Who is speaking?
What are "those"?

A small expansion:
"So that's what those are!" said Xxx, startled into leaning forward and peering.

What book?
Who is Xxx?
What are "those"?

What book? Horizon
Who is Xxx? Fawn
What are "those"? ground-ripped oats

So close! The book is right, but the other two are wrong (by the way, I think she sees the oats in Passage, not Horizon). Fawn is, however, important to the quote.

By the way, where did everyone go? No one else (besides the two of us) has posted in this topic since mid-November...

Well, here I am again. Not that I have a precise idea on this particular quote, but I am back.
What happened is, I got behind in my rewriting of the second Omnibus of the Saga in french. The deadline (december 31st) was approaching fast and there was still a lot to do. So though I did not spend all my free time on the computer, I also have a life, thank you, I tended to use every minute of free time on computer rewriting.
We are not quite down yet, but the babe is in the lap of my co-rewriter. As soon as he sends me his next pass, I'll have to do my next pass ,etc. But each time the amount of changes decreases by a large factor, and this means that we' should actually finish by the end of the week.
The first Omnibus ,as well as the translation of Cryoburn came out late october.

And soon I'll start on the third Omnibus.. This is going to last for years…
Considering how bad the first translations were, there is a lot of work to do.. Hopefully new readers will enjoy the corrected translations better..

Anyway, I have no idea on the present quote, but I'am back to the game!!!
Human is as human does....Animals don't weep, Nine

Beware babes in your lap. Though they're a cuddly delight, they're notoriously time-consuming, if nothing else.

Does your's too wear a white-rimmed and pom-pommed red cap?

Sounds like a labor of love, Voralfred! Hopefully, someone who wasn't turned off by the first translation will give the books a try after you're done with the re-translation!

I can give EPS a half point for the book (Horizon) if someone else wants to get the rest of it. It's only one book to read skim. I'll even give the hint that it's in the first half of the book, so it's only HALF a book to skim. :)

Happy Belated Christmas by the way, everyone! I haven't been on in a few days because of holiday deadlines (I finished my last Christmas present at 4:45pm on Christmas).

A labor of love indeed...
But we are seeing the end of it. Of the second Omnibus, that is. Because there are at least three more..

By the way, I'm going to be away from my computer next week, so if someone could find the quote in the first FIVE CHAPTERS of Horizon, it would be most helpful.

Why don't you just grant EPS the point and the next quote? I seem to be the only one here left, and I don't mind...

That's OK by me. The more that yesterday I found the exact quote. (Spetty's hints helped quite a lot)

So, as there are no other takers:

What book? ... Horizon
Who is Xxx? ... Arkady
What are "those"? ... the deep red dents marring the sides of her [Fawn's] throat

Ah, good! I can leave my computer with a clear conscience. You're, of course, correct, so I'll go post your sherlock, and you can post the next quote!

Upon seeing it, XXX comments on it out loud, but also silently thinks: "Oh, I want one!"
  • Who is XXX.
  • What does XXX want?
  • In what location does XXX see it for the first time? State the location's most precise name as given by LMB (either a space station, ship, building, city, town or planet).
Bonus for 1/2 point:
  • Show a picture of an object corresponding to XXX's comments (or a link to a picture).

'Who' is Fawn, in Passage, seeing an iron stove from Tripoint in a Silver Shoals' shop, on the way back from visiting the mint.

I suppose it looks like this one.

Happy new year everyone :) .
