This is correct! One sherlock and the next quote...
Hmmm....
I did not post that quote, it is not to me to name the winner. Sorry, Caroline

I think I've got it. It's Ekaterin in Komarr (coincidentally also ON Komarr) after her lunch with her uncle, thinking about whether Miles would appreciate the take home box she ordered for him.
Waiting patiently for the next Lois McMaster Bujold book.

Correct, Spetty ! A sherlock and the next quote
Re: LMB Quote Game
Next quote:
Who is speaking?
Who is "she"?
Book?"And to think I imagined she was exaggerating!"

Re: LMB Quote Game
"And to think I imagined she was exaggerating!"
Book? Diplomatic Immunity
Who is speaking? Ekaterin Vorkosigan
Who is "she"? Cordeilia Vorkosigan
Ekaterin has "caught" MIles looking at the vids of the sperm and eggs joining, creating the lifeform that will eventually be Aral Alexander. She is commenting on the fact that Cordeila warned her that as soon as the embryos were safely implanted, Miles would be acting like HE had invented reproduction.

Correct! I'd hoped it wasn't too easy, but it certainly didn't take long to be identified.

Well, this looks like on of the low-lifers Dag and Fawn met during their travels. I can't see such a line in any world but that of TSK, but which one? Probably Passage or Horizon, but possibly ony of the first two, too.JKCade wrote:Perhaps, a little more.

Xxx some other low-lifer, but the bully type rather than the victim type.
But my library is in total disarray because of the painters who are redoing our apartment, I can't access it. Anyone is welcome to follow that lead to get the next quote, but if I am mostly right, it is cutomary to share the sherlock.

Re: LMB Quote Game
It's Hod in Passage. XXX is Hopper, Hod's brother in law ("some tent-brother", thought Dag). Hod is afraid to get his leg cut, that nobody will offer work to him after. Copperhead has just shattered his kneecap, and Dag is thinking about healing him.
I'm not sure I'll have access to my library in the coming fortnight, so could voralfred have the next quote ?

I was thinking of a half-sherlock each. Thus I can have an integer number of sherlock again... ^^

Ditto. My library is a total mess. And what's more, I'll be leaving soon. Oh, well, I just hope someone finds it rapidly, and nor all my LMB books are unaccessible.Caroline Tredez wrote: I'm not sure I'll have access to my library in the coming fortnight, so could voralfred have the next quote ?
Book?A black grin stole over XXX's face. "Improvise."
XXX?
Whom is XXX talking to?
Bonus: how many seconds away was the person XXX was talking to forced to improvise?

A bit clearer, maybe:
XXX?
Who speaks first?
Bonus:
"blah-blah-blah" is some event. In case this event takes place, the first person to speak would have to improvise.
To get a half-point bonus, you don't have to describe this event, but only to say exactly how many seconds away it was to take place.

Hey, people! Tomorrow morning I'll be off the Web for two weeks! You really have to solve this soon!

I'm off for two weks!
I should not have posted so shortly before leaving but I thought it would have been found earlier.
So let's call it cold.
If it is answered later it will still bring up to 1 and 1/2
(I'll come back and check, promise) but in order not to stall the game anyone who feels like it ca npost a new quote. And the "five days-rule" won't apply to Caroline on the first question (unless she posts it, of course), nor to the poster on the question after her/his, but on me on both questions (I'll be absent, anyway) so it is a double bonus!
Keep the game moving and have fun!
See yo uearly in August

Re: LMB Quote Game
Hi!
I am back, but with only haphazard connection and without my books.
Nobody called my quote cold yet?
Someone should!
Just in case, here is a hint for the bonus (that should hopefully help find the original quote, a few pages before in the same book).
The answer to the hint is given by a female character (who does not appear eleswhere in the Saga, just in the few preceding paragraphs) who sobs uncontrollably (or hysterically, or something, I am not quoting, just remembering) and repeats "NNN seconds, NNN seconds.."
where NNN is a numeral, thus answering the bonus question: by how much was the event "blah-blah-blah" avoided?
But seriously, if this does not help, call it cold and post a new one, I did not want to stall the game that long!

You know, I was going to look there. Then lots of other stuff got in the way, and I never did make it back to check that particular spot.
And, yes, I do believe that hint pretty much gives the whole thing away.

Don't keep us in suspense. Bad for my BP.
I still haven't a clue where to go look for it.
Please get this tough quote out of the way, have it blessed and buried, and start a new one.

Re: LMB Quote Game
Damn, I replied, but my post was lost in some technical bug, it seems. The hint really gives it away : it's Miles to Auson in The Warrior's Apprentice, as he is about to board a pelian ship full of bombs set to explode (the explosion being the "blah-blah" event). They're gonna stop the explosion a full three seconds before too late ^^.
Re: LMB Quote Game
Welcome back Voralfred! I never looked in that particular spot either, although I kept thinking that had to be the book, it was the only one that made sense. No wonder I am not a detective!
