Actually any VW is too recent. And actual cars starred in the movie (cars having been built for sale and some of them still running) . There are no imagined cars involved. Scratch the "Hannibal 8", "The Leslie Special", the Batmobiles, Excaliburs and other fictional or existing one-of-a-kind cars.
