Writer's Volleyball 2009 - Guidelines & Commentary

Had a nasty fight with my creative muse today ... then we had rough make-up sex ... then we fought again and she stormed out. Might be a day or two before she lets me post again.
I did a short-short one.
"Ca ne fait pas beaucoup avancer le schmilblick" as we say in almost-french: the buck(?) did not go very far, except for pushing Freddo's sugar (and cholesterol) blood level even higher.
But I just could not resist: it is all for the spoonerism (with added kniferism: r vs rr)
There is also a tribute to Raven Sable, from "Good Omens".

Did a horror snippet yesturday, which carried us over to page 2.
I have another one mostly written, but not sure when I'll get to finish it ... a fireside sililoquy (read: explanatory monolog).
Anyway, I figured Clong would enjoy my having made the late Spiro Agnew as the current wraith leader of the Nazgul (Spiral Agnow in this alternate reality) ... although it occured to me afterwards that Joseph McCarthy might have worked even better.
I'm happy to change it retroactively, if people like the latter better.

Ok, I posted a longish one ... a double-length entry (almost 1,800 words). I've been adding bits and pieces to it, as time permitted, over the past two weeks, and finally found a way to shoehorn it in. It takes a stab at filling in some of the history of the ring and the conflict behind it that the "Council of Elroy" sidestepped.
Someone else go.
Someone else go.

Edit: I corrected a goof in my pseudo-history of the ring, and tweaked it here and there, to make it flow more smoothly.
BTW, if we keep abusing poor Freddo like this, he's going to snap long before he reaches Australia. I'm sure The Egoist will probably get a kick out of Cangolf's honest question about Freddo's nightmare. That had to hurt. I even got a little WOTD mileage out of it.

I looked up the phrase "pie in the sky" that Brad attributes to "the liberal left".
I was amused to see that the phrase was coined by a labor activist to ridicule the Salvation Army.
I wonder how they are going to reach Australia. Is Shadowfax going to turn out to be amphibious vehicle? Or in this Third Age of America, is there a land bridge to Australia? I guess we'll fidn out eventually...

Well, the whole liberal vs conservative theme was injected by Clong ... I'm just running with the proverbial football that he tossed. In my imagination, the fictionalized conflict we're narrating transcends political party, and is more accurately viewed as a battle between good and evil. The political overtones are just modern day cultural sauce for the literary goose in this instance.
As for eventually reaching australia .... recall that in the LOTR, shadowfax never goes to mordor. The fellowship gets split in three. We have a smaller fellowship in this tale (at the moment anyway), so splitting in two at some point would probably be easier to manage - but that's probably still a ways ahead yet. That's also assuming we even stick with the current pseudo Tolkien storyline - who knows where this match will go ?
p.s. I polished my fireside post a tad more.

By "introduced" I meant "named". Clong was indded the first to describe him, but your had the honor of choosing his name
The typo I referred to is that on one occasion you actually spell his name Aragorn instead of Aragen (to be precise, the last time, when he puts water on the ashes)

Lurking, or more accurately wandering in the Quill and Fountain area of the Forum, I read through this commentary and the 2008 effort to see if it might be somewhere to leave tracks. I think I follow the idea, doubting my skills immensely.
The 2009 commentary thread is several pages long and seems to refer to to characters as if the story were under way, as one would hope it would be by nearly the end of April.
But when I sought to examine the 2009 story itself, I was presented with a very odd message:

Am I missing something, or is the 2009 semi-athletic, semi-literate game AWOL (genre: military)?
Is it "kicking/serving" somewhere else?

Is anybody else having a problem?
The wonderful thing about not planning
Is that failure comes as a complete surprise
And is not preceded by a period of worry or depression
