Hello I'm Neil and here's my seven answers with the correct (at least if you're British) spelling of favourite!

1. Favourite Genre - Classic Adventure/ fantasy

2. Favourite Author - H. Rider Haggard or Mark Twain it varies.

3. Favourite Author that's not in Favourite Genre - P. G. Wodehouse.

4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name - The best short story ever Mark Twain's "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" I use the name on most of the other forums I belong to and I've got a good picture to go with it!

5. How you found IBDoF - through IBL.

6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend - Hmm "Never recommend" probably one of Rider Haggard's worst "Stella Fregelius" although certainly not the worst book I've ever read I certainly wouldn't want to introduce somebody to Haggard with it far better to start with say King Solomon's mines or even Montezuma's daughter.

7. Top 5 books/series: (I'm going to do one per author):
H. Rider Haggard's Allan Quatermain (book and/or series)
Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (Small Gods is prob. best)
P. G. Wodehouse's Jeeves books of which Right Ho, Jeeves may be the best.
L. Frank Baum at the age of 33 I've started rereading and enjoying again the Oz books, I'm just starting reading for the 1st time those by Ruth Plumly Thompson and the other authors who took over from Baum. the best in the series I've always thought was "The Patchwork Girl of Oz"

 I like your selections especially Rider Haggard and nothing can beat Wooster and Jeeves for absurd comedy. If the call comes, he can buttle with the best of them.

About Haggard - everyone's entitled to c**p once in a while (well, may be he overdid it).

Forgive the belated entry ...

1. Favourite Genres: I'm completely onmivorous, but if I had to narrow it down to what I actually own and review the most of, it's have to be Culinary, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Hard Science.

2. Favourite Author: Again, I'm onmivorous ... but I confess to a soft place in my heart for (in no particular order) Joseph Campbell, Harlan Ellison, Neil Gaiman, Robert Heinlein, J.R.R.Tolkien, Frank Herbert, Robert E. Howard, and ... and ... heck, I'll stop there, or I'll never finish.

3. Favourite Author that's not in Favourite Genre: Xaviera Hollander :butter:

4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name - That's the name I was prophesied to have, at the dawn of time. The first letter (B) being formed by the number of Creation (1), and the number of the Divine (3). The next two letters being Ra, the Egyptian God of the all-illuminating Sun, and King of the Gods. The last letter (d) for destiny and destruction. I, B-ra-d am the alpha and the omega, and my incarnation is the mortal lands is "The Roving Punster" ... who was scrambled for his sins on page 49 of the WoTD Thread, and was hatched again, in accordance with the scriptwriters.

5. How you found IBDoF: <strike>With a keyboard and a dream.</strike> Actually, Kevin Palmer founded it ... I just ran it for him for a few years, while he was off playing God it in Micronesia. Some people referred to those days as the (ahem) Evil Overlord's Reign of Terror. I eventually deposed myself out of boredom, so I could start over from scratch and reconquer the world a second, third, and later a fourth time. I haven't decided yet whether or not to seize supreme power for a 5th time. I've found that supreme power, whilst good for my libido, is very bad for my cholesterol, so I'll probably give it a rest for a while.

6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend: Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead".

7. Top 5 books/series: Egads, that's like asking a mother to choose favorites from her children. How about 5 semi-random gems from the classics aisle ... Joseph Campbell's "Power of Myth" series, Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series, Frank Herbert's "Dune" series, Doc Smith's "Galactic Patrol" series, Heinlein's "Future History" saga.

The roving punster** wouldn't be worth his salt and pepper if he weren't quotable.

--------------------
** It's a long inside joke, but the roving punster's first incarnation was revealed to be Humpty Dumpty, who appropriately had a great fall in the aforementioned thread reference ... hence the salt and pepper gag. ;)

We're all aware of Brad's... slowness... but he's made remarkable progress in overcoming this obstacle.

Now, if we could just make him forget the Evil Overlord garbage...
