Walking into the library this morning and seeing that the other librarian put a hot cup of coffee on my desk for me from the coffee shop up town, it was a nice surprise to start my day. :)

Finding out that we might have our house sold befor it even hits the market and if it does we might be able to get the house we really really want, say a little prayer that everything works out.

From a couple weeks ago ..

I'd been wanting to go see the local high school's fall/winter play but my wife wasn't interested. (I'd been bugging off and on for a month.)

At the last minute, her usual commitment evaporated - plus - the kids came home from school super excited by the "preview" they got to see.

.. so I got to go afterall.

(The boys and I enjoyed it most but my wife actually admitted to having a good time as well.)

Eating at a Chinese buffet with friends. (Gotta love those steamed dumplings)
I am a poor, wayfaring stranger
Wandering through this world of woe
But there's no sickness, no fear or danger
In that bright land
To which I go

This one is actually from last night, seeing the look of happiness on my youngest daughters face when she got to see Santa. There's just nothing better than that.

That's what made my yesterday BAD.

I had a ton of errands to run, but not during a freakin' blizzard ! About 14" had fallen by evening.

Today was better -- I got most of the errands done, so I'm content. :)

Did you find time to buy a pair of gloves/mittens for moonwolf?

What made yesterday good for my son: after waiting in line for hours, he got his copy of the new Lucky Luke comics book dedicated by the artist (not just with a signature, also an actual big drawing of the hero on the title page). The book tells of a fictional presidential campaign in the south-western states of that time (Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas..) by Rutherford B. Hayes, in 1876, featuring, besides Hayes himself, his wife "Lemonade Lucy", very much in character, but also a fictional enemy called Perry Camby (who looks very much like George W. Bush), and another that does not look like anyone in particular but is called Sam Palin. (The true Democrat opponent, Samuel J. Tilden, is mentioned, but does not play any role in the story).

Any idea where the name Perry Camby comes from?

LOL !

The side street by my house has a slope at the top just like that. Cars will get close to the intersection, then start sliding backwards. It's amusing to watch -- thank goodness it's not a heavily-trafficked street.

So I'm learning to cook... it's sad that I'm 16 and can't cook anything but then again my dad's learning with me. Well I decided to make french toast (I used to make it with my mum when I was younger but never on my own) and it was pretty much the best french toast that I've ever had.

I was in college before I started cooking things other than scrambled eggs and hotdogs/hamburgers.

Today... My neighbor's little boy built a jolly snowman in my yard.

This wasn't today but, I spent New Years Eve paddling on the Willamette River with my dragonboat team at Midnight. We wanted to prove how crazy dragonboaters were. The drunk people on the banks loved how crazy we were. It was the best spent holiday I can say that I ever have had.

There's ... there's ... there's a "Squirrel Appreciation Day ??!!"

 I didn't read the whole thing but I did read the email part and I find it hilarious!! Yes there is apparently a Squirrel Appreciation Day and it's today but I don't see a reason to set aside a day just for them. They are everywhere and besides them being kind of cute what's to appreciate? Shooting squirrels isn't a big deal to me, I learned to hunt by hunting squirrels with my dad, but your story did give me a good laugh, sorry to bring up bad experiences.
