Well, why aren't you playing? You say you found it but you don't post it. After you give the right answer I'll explain the first hint.

Sorry, tollbaby, but thegrim skeaker beat you!

It is indeed Oliver Twist!

The first hint is not in Dickens, but it is one of the most famous songs of the musical "Oliver!" sung by Nancy.

hehe :) I had to go see the on-site nurse during my break due to a bit of dizziness this morning (inner ear infection apparently - joy). Yes, I figured it was Oliver Twist, although I was right - it isn't something I've read LOL

Congrats Grim, now Voralfred, you need to explain that first clue ;)

There is a famous musical called "Oliver!" based on the novel.
There are many well-known songs, among which "Oom Pah pah"

I thought "Oom Pah Pah" would ring a bell to at least some of the members here (those who could have seen the musical when it first came out, Sue, Laurie, ...)

But my favorite song is the show is when Fagin is "reviewing the situation"

grim squeaker, I did give you your first sherlock, but by editing my post since it was the last one rather than posting a new one.
Anyway the next quote is yours. And this time I'm defiitely not allowed to answer for 5 days.

 Sorry, I missed the post where you did post a new quote. With all the intervening ones, I think it is better to post it again:

This went *way* cold.

Grim, do you prefer to post a hint or to let it go cold and post a new quote?

Generally, if no one guesses, you don't post the answer :) That gives people a chance to guess later on.

I guess it's up for anybody who wants to post a new quote! Folks?

Ok, heres one from a book I'm currently reading.

"There was a man and he had eight sons. Apart from that, he was just a comma on the page of history. Its sad, but thats all you can say about some people. But the eight son grew up and married and had eight sons, and because there is only one suitable profession for an eighth son of an eighth son, he became a wizard."

Shouldn't it be "eight sons" all together but "eighth son" when discussing the youngest?
Just a question of grammar. I have no idea on what the book is.
But I'm guessing the genre is: Fantasy.
Do I get a half-point for guessing the genre?

You shouldn't get any points for guessing fantasy - what other genre would have wizards? ;)
