Today I learnt that the Subway sandwich shop in Soho is open long after midnight, and it makes a surpisingly awesome setting for long rambling dicussions.

I agree with you ashellinak, it's one of the best.

Today I learned getting up at 4 AM to take my son to school for a science fair wasn't so bad.

Getting up everyday at that time would be bad, but I only had to do it once so I think I'll survive.

Today I learned that you can watch to much TV!

Today I learned how to keep Spanish Rice from drying out when reheating it as leftovers.

A little salsa works wonders! :)

Today I learned that if your shampoo explodes on your clothes, you do not need to add laundry soap to the load when you wash it. :butter:

Today I learned (thanks to Wikipedia) that the British play draughts (and the Americans play checkers) on a 8*8 board just like a chessboard, while we Frenchmen play "jeu de dames" on a 10*10 "damier" bigger than the "échiquier".

Yesterday I learned that I fractured my right pinky in a volleyball match the night before, & that the finger might remain slightly crooked once it heals. I was upset. After a (painful) badminton game I sat bitching to myself in the locker room. Then I heard a voice behind me which turned out to belong to someone I played with on occasion two years ago. Then I learned that two years ago this someone had a stroke & his left side is still partially paralyzed. He was at the gym for rehabilitation. I doubt he is older than 30.

So really, yesterday I learned that bitching about a slight deviation in my pinky is absolutely absurd & I got over it really quickly.

Today I learned that I need to wear a splint for three weeks & somehow I'm pleased.

Today I learned that DB Cooper was known as a modern day Robin Hood and had a fan base.

Not sure how he could be considered a Robin Hood. He did steal from the rich, but his wealth was never shared and has never been circulated. Thus, he has never given to the poor.

Today I learned that I am apparently the only one on this board who has learned anything lately!
I also learned that April 3rd is “don’t go to work unless it’s fun day!â€

I've learned heaps of stuff lately, actually. Mainly how to calculate stress/strain in objects undergoing both bending and axial loading (haven't covered shear and torsion in much detail yet). I have also learned about geartrains, linear algebra/gigantic matrices and eigenvalues/eigenvectors and just how many idiot 18 year olds are out in Takapuna on a Thursday night (well, I knew that already but when sober it is much more obvious.)

My, my, how grown-up you sound now that you've put your teenage years to bed!

Today I learned that the security check to enter a Federal office building is both stringent and a bit like a Keystone Kops movie.

For the past week, since my injury, I've been learning that a mobile pinky finger actually helps in properly performing even the most menial of tasks.
