Volleyball 2008 Commentary

Post by Echus Cthulhu Mythos »

I am keen to bring Volleyball back! Although I do find hanging around in the appendix fun, it is mostly mindless stuff. I want to be a little bit more creative instead of just hanging out here when I have little else to do. Although previously, I did not participate particularly much in the Volleyball arena I enjoyed reading it immensely. Plus I want to try and encourage some of the old guard to come back because I pretty much miss all of them and what they had to say. Therefore, I propose that we revitalise this whole forum! :)

Um, I will re-hash Clong's 2007 Volleyball rules and put them into a seperate thread.

I am in favor of resurrecting the Volleyball thread.

Alrighty then! First post in the story up, I pretty much just tried to set the universe up and then give something for the next author to springboard off. I won't score myself cos that'd be a little cheap.

I just want to be clear before I post something and mess it all up: So the next person takes it from where the last person left up, but different genre.............does each individual post have to be a different genre or can genres repeat after a while? And it doesn't matter where you take it?

Yup, just pick a genre and carry on the story. The story can be as crazy or serious as you like and try to do a genre that hasn't been covered, but it doesn't really matter if the genre is similar to a previous one as long as it is different to the post preceding it.

But yeah, I am not totally sure how the scoring and stuff works. I didn't participate much in Volleyball when it was at its zenith on this forum so I am still learning too. I just thought it would be fun to try revive.

ECM, good for you for trying to get this going again. Volleyball's one of the main reasons I started being a regular on this forum originally, and I also miss the fun we had with it back in the day.

Over the last couple of years, people have periodically tried to keep it going (most notably clong) and I tried to pitch in once or twice, but I'm sorry to say I've hardly been a regular.

You've inspired me though, and I'm going to try to put up an entry soon. If I do though, don't leave me hanging Kiwi. :)

I'm glad to hear this, lady. I seem to recall something about biker chicks in prison that was quite well produced...

Yes, I was waiting for the volleyball to bounce in an area where it would work for me to resurrect Carlotta. She may be one of my finest volleyball characters ever.

Bwa ha ha!

Carlotta, my sweet, hefty, tattooed biker chick. How I long to once more loose you upon the planet.

I'm glad you liked it. I had never done a "Magic 8 ball genre" before, so it was an amusing exercise for me as well.

Did you know wikipedia lists all he possible responses of the magic 8 ball? Well, they do.

Cool, huh?

Wasn't there also a point for using the "word of the day" in your Volleyball entry?

It seems I have a foggy recollection of that.

There was a point for using a WOTD in a post, that's right...you're going quite a ways back now though.

As well as occasionally playing, Ghost used to be our official scorekeeper and tallier - he was like a rock, you could set your clock by him. Everyone got kind of spoiled over time because he always did all the scoring.

I'm sure those duties can be shared though. It was never really about the points for me anyway - I just liked playing for laughs.

I WILL join this game soon. Beware all.

Goodie!!!!

Yeah, it was never about points for me either--I just like to flex my creative writing muscles.

Such as they are.

I think I'll do this as well. Beware, I'm horrible at writing.

It's not a contest, Oddball. It's just for fun - you can be as serious or crazy or funny as you like...:)

I know it's not a contest, just warning those who dare to read it, when I find the time.

Well, I hope you find the time soon, young Jedi. :) I'm too busy right now to write an entry, so I hope you or someone else gives it a shot.

DAMN!

I just re-read Cho's post - and realised I dropped a major point of consistancy!

Maybe she took them off before leaping out of the window,, as swans, lizards, cats and chameleons usually don't wear clothes?

On a different point, could either ECM as originator of this thread, or anyone with mod access to it, add an "A" in the title? It sets my teeth on edge each time I read it as it now stands.
