Well, as I said a in a post just above (but in a previous page) if the rules were made explicit rather than alluded to, often not in a particularly helpful way, I'd agree that more time should be given to tollbaby and all subsequent players.

Well, it has been a whole week now and since this is really getting cold, I'll jumpstart it again. But let us just consider that "Les Misérables" was a fumble and we start afresh.
So the person who has to wait (how long? three days? or let's make it five days as in the other games) before answering is Sue (mccormack44 for the uninitiated) as we reset to the point when I answered her quote.

At a village of XXX whose name I do not wish to remember there lived a little while ago one of those gentlemen who are wont to keep a lance in the rack, an old buckler, a lean horse and a swift greyhound.
This is again a translation, but telling you from what language would make it too easy. The translation I found in one of the many english editions so it could vary from one edition to the other.
The name of the village was omitted by the author himself, however I had to edit some geographical data (XXX) that is present in the book but would be a dead giveaway.

Don Quixote of La Mancha, by Miguel de Cervantes.

(A book everyone must read, methinks.)

That was indeed easy. Still you get a Sherlock, and please keep the game going! ;)

I say again - I do not think this game should recived Sherlocks because you can google the answers.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you,

I agree with the logic, but I don't think anyone is cheating, otherwise more people would be jumping in and some quotes would not have taken so long to be answered. Any more opinions oout there? In the meantime...

I don't have an answer to the quote, but I am chiming in to vote "yes" for Sherlocks. I too do not think that people are cheating.

My quote is perhaps for some a little obscure (though you've all likely heard of the book), so I will place it: First half of the 1900s. I will add a new hint every 30 hrs or so.

I thought I would jump in here to say that I am cheating at every opportunity--but not on this game.

Line up, who's next to be cheated?
I am a poor, wayfaring stranger
Wandering through this world of woe
But there's no sickness, no fear or danger
In that bright land
To which I go

Zyban0, just as KeE in the "One line blurb": could you either give more hints, or decide it is :cold: and propose another first line?
If noone had found till now with the latest hint, 5 days ago, noone will in any foreseeable future..

Almost two weeks now, but worse, more than one week since the last hint.
Should we call it :cold:? Unless Zyban0 gives another hint, then we give a few more days for the new hint to bring an answer?

No news from Zyban0 for 10 days now.
Even if an anwser had been given, would he have acknowleged it, to say whethet it was correct or not?
Should we call it cold?

In lieu of Z's delayed response, I'll offer up a new first line:

After Slitscan, Laney heard about another job from Rydell, the night security man at the Chateau.

Here's a guess: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury?

Wow  .....Okay, I checked to make sure this wasn't already a quote in this game.
On the 24th of February, 1815, the watch-tower of XXXX signalled the arrival of the three-master Pharaon, from Smyrna, Trieste, and Naples.
The XXXX is the name of the watch-tower.....I felt it might give a bigger hint to where the book takes place.....

Certainly I would. I'm rather inconsistent with these forums but I check in when I log on. With this game, at least, anyone can verify an answer. Otherwise move on & the poster will eventually return.

Alright, time to expand the quote:
On the 24th of February, 1815, the watch-tower of Notre-Dame de la Garde signalled the arrival of the three-master Pharaon, from Smyrna, Trieste, and Naples.
Soccer is a game in which a handful of fit men run around for one and a half hours watched by millions of people who could really use the exercise.
