In the 60’s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

Way, wait a sec ...
Gentlemen, I realize the goal here is just innocent fun, but my conscience just wacked me onna forehead. To me, this thread appears to cross that nebulous (and hard to quantify) line between idle fun and pure static.
It's one thing to have perpetual threads in which people swap silly Q&As, define little used or imagined words, or list their current listening selections ... that stuff, although admittedly fluffy, at least has SOME minimal content. This ping-pongish single-word association thread, however, is pure static. It has no useful content, other than boosting post counts, and thus fits the description of 'spam' used by most public forums.
Kilty: you're the boss man, and I humbly defer to your judgement ... do you want your moderators to lock this sort of thing ? Or do you want us to let it slide until the forum picks up more membership ?
Is there a minimal S/N ratio you want us to try to encourage ?
Guidance please.

However when I glanced at it - and checked it was indeed in the Soapbox - I thought "Why not?"
Considering that the stated aim of the Soapbox is to keep S/N ratio everywhere else at acceptable levels I don't really have much of a problem with something like this happening here. However if something were to shoqw up ANYWHERE else - I wouldn't move it here - I would lock it - give a warning so that the culprit gets to see why we shut it down and then after a week delete the thread.
I am not especially interested in a BBTL style game

Thanks for your concern here Brad - I ABSOLUTELY would want the moderators to lock something like this if it showed up anywhere outside the Soapbox.Brad_H wrote:Kilty: you're the boss man, and I humbly defer to your judgement ... do you want your moderators to lock this sort of thing ? The wonderful thing about not planning
Is that failure comes as a complete surprise
And is not preceded by a period of worry or depression

I'll leave it where it is, massa kilty.
p.s. I think I'll bow out on further participation in this thread ... the S/N ratio is zilch, and I dont see the point of posting just to boost one's post count.

Ah, but there's the dig my friend. As a word game, this thread sorta belongs in TQ&F ... it was at the instant that I went to move it that my conscience short circuited. I had exactly the same thought. However if something were to shoqw up ANYWHERE else ...

By the way, Brad, if you ever look at this thread, the reason it is NOT a waste of time and space and merely boosting post counts, is because it is interesting to see how certain people think. Sorta the same idea as "three sides to every story."
