Hi! I’m Kaza Kingsley, author of the Erec Rex (juvenile / young adult) fantasy series. My first book, Erec Rex: The Dragon’s Eye, was on the best-seller list for fantasy last winter in hardcover – it’s now out in paperback. The sequel, Erec Rex: The Monsters of Otherness, has just hit the bookstore shelves! Both books have had great reviews (see these and TV interviews on http://www.erecrex.com) and are endorsed by Nickelodeon star Devon Werkheiser (“Ned,â€

Hi! My name is Tomislav, I'm from Zagreb, Croatia and I'm 24 years old and handesome as the devil :)

And, now to try to answer these questiones...

1. Well, most of all, I like classics and a bit of fantasy genre. Also funny and satirical novels, I'm not quite sure in wich genre to these belong
2. Hmm. this is a bit hard for me, well I always like J. Steinbeck (Especially East of Eden), and Thomas Wolfe but to tell you the truth I don't really have a favorite autor becasuse there are so many that are so good and it is pretty hard to decide for me.
3. Goran Tribuson :) I know that this name does not mean anything to you but he is my favourite croatian author so I had to mentione him.
4. The name, well I just watcher Pirates of the...3: At World End, i that was the first nickname i could think of.
5. I was trying to find a site that was similar to Internet movie database but for books of courese and I founf this site.
6. The Sorrows of Young Werther by J.W. Goethe.... I still have nightmares from highschool because of this book.
7. Hmm... I'll get back to you on this one. I can't make a list now in my head...

Well, that's it. Sorry if my english is not perfect. I try :)

Hi folks. Just spent the week going through my books (managed to choose 400 that I don't want anymore...my wife will be happy) and discovered the website while looking for some info on Robert E Howard. Got a hangover right now, but looking forward to trawling through the threads

Favorite Genre - Like most genres apart from romance(got enough of that in real life). Sci-fi, war, contemporary, comedy, esoteric, etc

Favorite Author - Lovecraft, R.E. Howard, Julian May, etc

How/Why you picked your Member-Name - google to find out more about the lord of vagabonds.

How you found IBDoF - by fortunate mishap

Name one book you would never recommend to a friend - 'Gem Squash Tokoloshe' ( the most recent book I read and disliked).Though would recommend 'The Highest Tide' by Jim Lynch.Read it last week and loved it.

Top 5 books/series -
Julian Mays - Galactic Milieu
Michael Moorcock - Eternal Champion(well thats ALL his booksthen, lol)
Clockwork Orange
Catch-22
....all the rest :D

Hi. I just joined this week. Here are my answers.

1. Favorite Genre- Horror

5. How you found IBDoF- Google of course

2. The Stand: Stephen King
3. The Invaders Plan series: L.Ron Hubbard
4. A Dirty Job: Christopher Moore
5. Gone Baby Gone: Dennis Lehane

Maybe not my top 5 of all time. Just what really stuck out in my head that I could rememeber

No, sorry, I never lived in the US. I've never even been in the US. Zagreb is my first and only love as far as the cities go :) . But there are a lot of people of Croatian origin in the States and in Canada.

I find remarkable how many members of this forum are from Croatia, compared to the population of this country. I am the only active member from France proper at this time, it would seem, (not counting french speaking Canadians), with more than 60 millions compatriots, and there are two active Croatians now, Jack-Sparrow and Reede Kullervo, not counting Vesna who disappeared after a short visit.

Um... hi all. I'm Emmy, and I'm a habitual reader since I was a small child, now raising another habitual reader of my own. LOL!
Okay, on the othe questions...

1. Favorite Genre - I dabble in a little if everything, biography, history, sci-fi, kid lit (gotta check what my daughter's reading, as a responsible parent-LOL), music, cooking, ect. And my not-so-secret addiction is historical romance novels. They are taking over the house.
2. Favorite Author - do I HAVE to pick one??? Nope, sorry, just can't do it
3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre - umm......
4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name - it's based on my nickname in real life, and I use it on all my messege boards
5. How you found IBDoF - Ask.com... I was looking for somewhere to chat with my fellow biblo-heads
6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend - I plead the fifth
7. Top 5 books/series - LOTR, the Malory family series by Lindsey, anything in the Hitchhiker's trilogy

okay, so I kinda fudged on some stuff there... but I get points for trying, right????

Hello, I m xiongie, I m a chinese art student from malaysia. I have always like books (em.. books entice me :D) , but never really been a good reader. I m only recently picking up reading again to improve my english and my creativity. I m entering the forums from ibdof.

1. Favorite Genre - Fantasy, Sci-Fi (?) I like vampires and werewolves and mystical creatures too, but somehow they are categorised under sci-fi horror. :I
2. Favorite Author - no idea! I only read so few...
3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre - >.<
4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name - It's my real name. haha! I have short term memory and forgets my nick very easily so I stick to my real name most of the time.
5. How you found IBDoF - wikipedia!
6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend - >.<;
7. Top 5 books/series - .__.; em, I only read so little books..

.__.; Well, to be honest, my purpose here is actually to find good books to read, so I guess... my journey as an avid reader will have to start from here. Maybe one day when I have read enough I would return and put in the answers! Anyways, nice to meet all of you, and do recommend me some nice books yea? ^^

Welcome, Xiongie! :)

Unfortunately, I'm not a Fantasy/SciFi reader, so I can't help you, but most of our members like those genres -- I'm sure you'll get some good reading recommendations here!

Croatia (4,5 million people), France (60 million)= 2-1. We woooon! :)
For real now, it' s kind of strange that there are not more French on this site, but maybe they have not discovered it yet, and the score will soon change

Hello

Post by rjc2001 »

Hello all,

My name is Robert and I live in Fort Worth, Texas, having moved here 3 years ago from Southern California. I was an English Lit major but work as a Computer Tech.

1. My Favorite Genres are SF&F (more Fantasy lately than pure SF) and Literature.

2. Favorite Author -- Flann O'Brien

3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre -- Hmm, hard to say, maybe Stephen Hawking? Or if Comics are out of Genre, Frank Miller or Alan Moore.

4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name -- I've had this web name since 1997. It is a combo of my initials and "2001" is a nod to Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 and not the year.

5. How you found IBDoF -- A link from The Internet Top 100 SF/Fantasy List.

6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend -- "The Wanderer" by Fritz Leibing. I got it free from a used book store and quickly discovered why it was free. It's very dated and boring, at least as far as I read, YMMV I suppose. Is there anyone here that has read it and enjoyed it? I am curious.

7. Top 5 books/series
(1) At Swim-Two-Birds by Flann O'Brien
(2) The Bible
(3) LOTR
(4) HP Lovecraft stories
(5) Hmmm, hard to narrow this down... Dracula/Moby Dick/Anno Dracula... others... I am currently reading and enjoying the Dark Tower series by King.

I am happy to find this site and look forward to posting more and getting to know everyone here. Thanks for having me.

My Name is Bryan and I live in London Ontario. I am an officer in the Canadian Air Force as well as a student in the aviation program at the University of Western Ontario. I am 21.
My answers:
1)Favorite genre: science fiction OR personal war accounts.
2)Favorite author: I don't really have one. Maybe Orson Scott Card, but there is no author I religiously read (especially since you don't have much extra reading time in University!)
3)Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre: Dean Koontz
4)How/Why you picked your Member-Name: I live on Hellmuth ave in London.
5)How I found this site: I googled 'book database forum' et voila.
6)One book I would never recommend: I recently read: "Drifting Together: The Political Economy of Canada-US Integration". It was insanely dull.
7) Top 5 books/series: THE ENDER SERIES BY ORSON SCOTT CARD, War in a Stringbag by Charles Lamb, Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab, Moonfleet by J Meade Falkner, and Iron Fist.
