1. Favorite Genre

Fantasy

2. Favorite Author

Tamora Pierce (at least right now it is, it has also been: Jane Austen; Douglas Adams; Phillip Pullman; George Orwell; Oscar Wilde to name a few. It changes regually)

3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre

Sebastian Faulkes.

4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name

It was a nickname I was given about 6 years ago, and generally use it on all websites.

5. How you found IBDoF

IRL, one of my best friends is a very heavy user of these boards (Kvetch).

6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend

That's hard. Colin the Librarian by Rich Parsons and Tony Keaveny is the only book I've read lately that wasn't worth the time or paper.

7. Top 5 books/series

All the Tortall world books by Tamora Pierce
Hitchhiker's Guide by Douglas Adams
Birdsong by Sebastian Faulkes
Jonathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach
I'm sure there's more, but those are the books/series I've read tens, if not hundreds of times.

Colin the Librarian by Rich Parsons and Tony Keaveny
I can attest to this. It really isn't good.

Okay so this is my first post. I'm not quite sure how this site works, but hopefully I'll figure it out. Anyway, my name's Amanda, I'm 15, and I live in Texas.

1. Favorite Genre
I like darker stuff, vampire stuff, but I guess I'm just at that stage right now, only being 15 and all. But if a book looks good, I'll read it.

2. Favorite Author
I don't think I have one. I haven't really read enough to know. I just recently got back into reading.

3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre
Again, don't have one. Not yet anyway.

4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name
It was a nickname for me when I was younger, and also the year I was born.

5. How you found IBDoF
I'm also a member of IMDb, and somebody on the Book Board mentioned this site.

6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend
Probably A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks. The movie was good, but I just didn't get into the book at all.

7. Top 5 books/series
Like I said, I haven't read all that much yet.

So yep, that was my first post. Hopefully I'll get to know some of you more. :)

you might try mercedes lackey's diana tregarde series...if your current tastes tend towards vampires and such, you'll probably like these. there are some rather graphic scenes in the second book, though, in case that kind of thing bothers you.

Hi laurie! Hi daetara! Thank you both. I'll try to check that series out. And nope, graphic scenes don't bother me.

they're not all that extreme, but given that you're 15 i felt it prudent to warn you. don't want your parents hunting me down, after all.

if you want more suggestions, try clicking on :List Genre: up at the top, and then scroll down to click on Vampire. 263 titles for you. :D

Haha yeah, I know what you mean. But they don't really care what I read. Hm, I wonder if that's a bad thing. :?:

Ooh, yep, I've already looked at that. :)

Hi pokey --ha, I won't ask why your family gave you that nickname! If you like vampire fiction, there is a trilogy for young adults/teens that starts with Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Here's the link to the description on Amazon:

Hi Pokey welcome to the site :) . I love to see people your age into books, I'm a childrens librarian and we don't see nearly enough of your age in here. If you're into vampires you might like the Bloodline series by Kate Cary, they pick up where Bram Stoker's Dracula left off, they're very good and writen with your age group in mind.

I've read Bloodline, but I didn't know there were more books. Hm...

I think it's weird that some people don't like to read. Almost all of my friends do. We share each other's books all the time. It's fun.

There's one more right now, I think there's another one in the making, it's Bloodling: Reckoning and as sequals go it very good, every bit as good as the first I think.
