About translations...
Are there any German translations of the Recluce series, and if so, where could I order them?
German translations
Heyne translated the first 11 books into 14 volumes. Many are available on Amazon, but the prices are truly outrageous. Because I'm not a German speaker, I can't honestly say whether there are German sources that would be better and cheaper.

I'm a german native speaker, but I much prefer the english books. Not only do they split some books into two volumes (see the post of Mr Modesitt!), which increases the cost further, but comparing german and english versions of one book (gravity dreams) I realized that the translator just skipped whole sentences where translation would have been difficult. I could not translate them properly either, but I know what they mean and mostly those are the sentences that make me smile.
So I strongly recommend reading the english books instead of the german ones. For me reading the englich books serves two purposes. First I can enjoy the original wordplay which suffers greatly by translation (especially the dialogues!). Second it is the most enjoyable way to improve my english.
