Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum (well, this website, really... just registered a couple of days ago).

Am a BIG fan of LMB's Vorkosigan series. Have come to enjoy the Chalion series (it is a departure from the former's "space opera" style); haven't read the new duologies yet.

Definitely, Miles to Ekaterin.
I'd say in "Civil Campaign". It might just be at the end of "Komarr", but I'm almost sure it is in "Civil Campaign".

OK, I found it.
My first response was by memory, but later I checked and found it: Civil Campaign, Chapter 17, a bit more than halfway of the first part, Miles and Ekaterin at Vorkosigan House (the second part is the party at Vorhartung Castle, followed by some exciting events....).
In my Baen hardcover edition, near the bottom of page 325.

So since this thread has been dormant a long time, and my correct answer given two days ago already, I'm just going along.

"Never mind."

To win the Sherlock and be the next one to post your quote you only have to
answer the (I estimate) medium-hard questions:
book?
name of the two protagonists?

But I would like to ask a "bonus" question which I consider as
extremely hard (maybe someone will prove me wrong)

Answer the second protagonist's question: When?

To win the bonus it is not enough to tell in which book the
event alluded to takes place (hint: it is in a different one), you
must indicate some context. I'll judge if what is given is enough.

But I don't know the usual bonus rules: is the bonus validated only if
given together with the right answer to the main question? even later
but only by the winner? by anyone, excluding the person who asked the
previous question, namely Blackwing; or even including him?
How much is the bonus? 1/2 point?
I believe it is much harder than the main question and
definitely the game should go on even without the answer to that.

I'll give you one more hint for the bonus question: I have given the answer somewhere where you can find it....

Which question do you try to answer here? I did not ask in what part of Memory this dialogue happens. In fact it is not on the lake when fishing with a stunner, but since that was not part of the question you still get the Sherlock. It is much later, when they are back in Vorbarr Sultana, after Galeni's arrest (and here, they are discussing Galeni).

My bonus question was not when this dialogue happens but to what past event (and thus, not related in Memory, but a different book) the dialogue refers to. When did Illyan teach Miles this lesson?

So I'll give you a Sherlock (even though you got the wrong time in Memory, because that was the deal), you get to ask the next question but the bonus is still open.

Indeed, the answer I was awaiting was, the "gluing" pages of Borders of Infinity. Just answering "Borders of Infinity" would not have been enough, but clearly here your answer is correct, "plot which keep that three books in one" is quite clear as to what you mean. So I'll add a 1/2 point for you.

I know the answer to your question but this time I'm not allowed to post it, I'll send it to you as PM, but I cannot get a Sherlock nor ask the next question, someone else had to do it this itme, that's the rule.

Well, I think this one is probably from I book I haven't yet read. I was actually paging through my copy of Memory looking for the previous quote when RK posted the correct answer

Bad luck! Once, you stumbled on the answer in a way you yourself called "cheating" so you refrained from posting, then RK beat you on the finish line and now this is from a book you did not read...

IIRC, Ekaterin says that near the end of Komarr after she smashes the novel device.
