Incidentally, I partially blame this thread for an irritating mental image that kept distracting me in my exam:

Geordi LaForge saying to Data "that is so non-non-heinous" a la Bill and Ted.(to the backdrop of a scene from one of the movies - just after Data pushed some one in Holo-deck water, or something.)
"I'm the family radical. The rest are terribly stuffy. Aside from Aunt - she's just odd."

You're taking advantage of the "can't add new authors" glitch, KT :deviate:

Ummm... so there are no romance books left for authors already in the database? :?:

Romance: 5300 {0}
SciFi: 5098 {+28}

Did someone else just bang in 10 SF books, or did I lose count of what I was doing?

The sad part is it's going to seem like a "victory" to get within 200 books of Romance. :roll: :shock: :cry:

Now now, let's not have any of this defeatist talk. The gap is less than 5%, and we have almost a 2k lead on the nearest genre in 3rd place.

I think I'll be doing linkdev for a little bit, before returning full force to scifi vs romance. ;)

Yeah I've been a bit distracted as well. :lol:

But neither category has advanced in over 14 hours (i.e. since I went to bed this morning :shock:).

Perhaps a 1 week truce (for SciFi vs Romance) is in order, so that we can collectively put a serious hit on the LinkDev effort ?

We've made good progress on linkdev, but there's still a ways to go ... we're probably only about 20-25% done (that's a guess). More hands would make the task go faster.

No! How could SciFi give in? I tell you what, if you manage to produce a (long) compelling ST script for a reason to halt, I'll consider pitching in :P

No one gave in. At the time Brad called for a truce, the trend was in SciFi's favor.

At time of truce request:
Romance: 5329 {+0}
SciFi: 5203 {+31}

Both sides advanced by one book, but then SciFi fell back due to the Velgarth reclassifications.

Current status:
Romance: 5330
SciFi: 5196

... which makes one wonder in etitameh is a Romancian operative (j/k).

GENRE = Star Trek TOS {Rated PG-13}
Spoiler: show
Jerk: {mashes intercom button} Security !
RedShirt: {intercom} Yessir ?
Jerk: We suspect there may be a romancian infiltrator onboard.
RedShirt: I'll bring us to security alert 1 status, Sir, and implement a search.
Jerk: Be on the lookout for high-cut women's lingerine. Starfleet intelligence reports that although they routinely use cosmetic surgery to appear like us, they're unable or unwilling to part with the custom of wearing lingerine under their uniforms.
RedShirt: {eager} Ooooh ... I'm all over that, Sir. You can rely on me.
Jerk: More specifically, be on the lookout for push-up bras, teddies (garters, high-cut panties, etc.), fishnet stockings ... you know the drill.
RedShirt: Indeed I do, Sir.
Jerk: Jerk off.
RedShirt: Sir ??!
Jerk: Uhm ... I mean "Jerk out" {closes intercom}

{15 mins later}

RedShirt: {intercom} Security to Mister Spock.
Spock: {intercom} Spock here.
RedShirt: Sir, could I see you on Deck 2, Section 8 ?
Spock: I'll be there in 127 seconds, Ensign.

{127 seconds later}

Spock: Yes ?
RedShirt: Follow me Sir ... we found something.

{leads him to Capt. Jerk's quarters, and opens dresser ... revealing a large collection of women's lingerine}

RedShirt: Sir ... could the Captain a Romancian agent ?
Spock: {sighs} No, ensign. I suspect the Captain is merely indulging in a private fetish.
RedShirt: Yessir.
Spock: Be about your duties Ensign ... I'll let myself out.
RedShirt: Yessir. {exits}
Spock: {staring at the drawerfull of lingerine} Fascinating.

Since truce was called:

Romance: 5331 {+2}
SciFi: 5210{+7}

Careful, guys. You don't want to incur the wrath of the Romancians. :shock:

This is okay as both are fairly steady. Not to discourage data entry, but if someone has an urge to bang in a whole bunch of SF (or Romance), how about helping with LinkDev instead?

I have been clearing up a few books-no-genre entries as I have been doing linkdev related research.
