Ho hum - I would have prefered to put the images into a videolike overlay sequence, but my software can't quite manage that. Sorry about the rather long time it took me to post...
I had intended to write an incredibly pretentious commentry, but it is 2 in the morning right now - but since none of you guys are ever likely to become familiar with South Kensington, I though I'd make some comments:
Firstly, that is exactly the walk I take to get to college everyday - most of the pictures are taken along Queensgate.
The shots before and after the traffic lights are the Natural History Museum (I considered trying to convince you that it was Imperial College).
I had intended to PhotoShop Wolfspirit onto the picture of Baden Powell House, but I didn't have time - although perhaps I can do that tomorrow (since I'm no longer stopping people posting)
The rather pretty tower is Queen's Tower, the only part of the original College remaining (The Maths building is a particularly dire example of 60s brutalist architecture) - actually, the part with Queen's Tower is a diversion - I when specially to get a picture of the patina on the metal dome on the top of the tower (I can claim that, right?...)
You don't actually pass the Royal Albert Hall to get to Beit Quad, so (as you can perhaps tell), that is the only deviation from the route actually taken.
Oh, and photos from that low off the ground have given me neckache.

Thanks guys!
considering that I stretched the timeframe to about 17 hours, I think you can be cut a little slack...clong wrote:I have an idea for a follow-up, but I am not sure when I'll be able to get to it (or if it will be doable within the allowed timeframe).

OK, I spent some time working on this, and I am going to abandon the idea of pursuing it as a VB entry (too long, too much time), but I may still turn it into a bit of a short story. It will be a battle between the "Antient" Science Fiction masters and the upstart moderns, with Kvetch as something (champion of the moderns? or maybe trying to play peacekeeper), done in imitation of Swift's satire.
So by all means continue the story with whatever comes to mind, or I may do myself with an alternate scheme.

Obviously, I abandoned the Battle of the Books scenario, although I still think it could make a great ibdof/iblist related short story, and I hope to work on it sometime. And if anyone disapproves of the new direction I took the story, you can always take it off in some completely new direction yourself
(that's how volleyball is supposed to work, right?)
Ghost, are you going to get us up to date on scoring sometime soon?

It must say it was a surprise, and I've had to rethink how I'm going to follow up (also, exams start tomorrow) - I did consider [Genre: Mary Sue] (when would be more appropriate?), but I still have to much self-respect left. Give me a week or two, perhaps...
And Ghostie, I think you need to do the Volleyball awards from last year...

Yeah and a lot of this years yet to score. R/L has been real busy and I'm trying to get to it.Kvetch wrote:And Ghostie, I think you need to do the Volleyball awards from last year...

It's not just a matter of finding a lone hour free ... it's also not having time to get caught up with the story to the current point. Assuming there is one (which has always been a good bet in previous matches.clong wrote:That's kind of a lame excuse Xyrael... If folks don't want to participate, then they shouldn't participate. But to suggest that since April 20 nobody has had the hour of free time required to write an entry seems silly.
I keep meaning to get to it, but just havent ... yet.
I'm looking forward to getting around to savoring what's already been posted.
I've got seven scored and am working on the other eight. Perhaps I will find time today and have them all scored tomorrow.clong wrote:Is Volleyball dead? Say it isn't so! Will anyone give it a go? and Ghostie, we're still waiting for that promised scoring update (and a few Sherlocks to boot).
