Tell me how to find 'em, and I'll rassle 'em into the Big R corral.

Just curious: When you're putting genres on those books, are you also adding any other missing info so the entries are complete? Because if you're not, I'm gonna be very, very angry........

EDIT: Okay, I found the "Books-No Genre" page and will start sifting the R from the SF.

Laurie:

In here: viewtopic.php?t=111816

Just look for ones with the romancey names. All I do is find ones with words like "Space" and "ship" and words of that sort, and check for teh title on Amazon.com/Abebooks, and make sure tehy are sci-fi, then do get craxcking on the series.

and I am adding the rest of the info for these books, even theough I am lucky on numerous occiasions, where it is only missing the genres and has everything else.

heh - funny things works like that...

Seriously, I found that most helpful for me by finding authors with one or two books listed, but really had like 30 or 40 books, all of which end up being sci-fi. I don't have to find new authors, which is a pain, but I find lots of new books.

Romance -- 4327
Sci-fi -- 4190

Today:

Romance -- 4370 (+43)
Sci-Fi -- 4223 (+33) <---- this excludes a lot of placeholders & legacy entries I filled in, otherwise we'd show quite a bit more for today.

Romance -- 4370
Sci-Fi -- 4301 (+65) <--- I fixed a bunch of broken genre tags in Dr. Who (genres 1, 40 & 63), but many of the entries are still incomplete. I flagged it for completion in the volunteers needed thread. Given the huge gaping void that still remains in Barbara Cartland, I didn't feel too guilty about fixing thes tags for the SciFi side. ;)

Looking at the book ID numbers entered in the past hour, it looks like a real horse race between Romance and SF, with Heather Graham Pozzessere and the Deep Space 9 series the respective jockeys!

It gets worse, Brad. Most of the Heather Graham Pozzessere that's going in, does not yet have the genre ID.

SubCmdr Laurie: Captain, you have 30 seconds to fix your spelling, or we'll blow you out of space.
Kirk: We're working on it !

Spock: {whispering} Captain, we only have 20 seconds left.
Kirk: {whispering} Chekov ... psst ... stop reading and see if you can get a weapons lock.
Chekov: {still reading}
Kirk: {whispering} Chekov ... chekov ... CHEKOV !!
Chekov: Yes Keptin ?
Spock: Captain, the Romancians have re-cloaked.
Kirk: It feels warm in here - why would they want to put on coats ?
Spock: I'm referring to the 'cloaking device' they use to conceal their ship from our sensor scans.
Kirk: They can do that ?
Sulu: {whispering to Chekov} What an idiot. When are they gonna promote Spock ?
Kirk: I HEARD THAT SULU !

Spock: Captain, the enemy has detected us. They've begin moving off.
Jerk: $#@& ... who blew our cover ?
Uhura: I'm detecting a low power transmission coming from somewhere near ... 10 Forward.
Jerk: Security. Intruder alert, 10 Forward. Set phasers to annihilate.
Chekov: Keptin, Starfleet command prohibits the use of deadly force except as ...
Jerk: If I want a comment from you, mister, I'll biatch-slap it outta ya. :x
Chekov: {muttering}
Security: Captain, we found the source of the transmission. It's Lt. Kilgore Trout.
Jerk: Trout ? Put him on.
Trout: {sounds of scuffle ensue} Ooof ... yes Captain ?
Jerk: We were sneaking up on the Romancians, and you blew our cover, mister. Why ?
Trout: Well, I .... ooof ... LONG LIVE THE ROMANCIAN STAR EMPIRE !
Jerk: Traitor !
Security: {scuffle} Watch out ! {fist fight}
Jerk: Security ... take him to the brig and soften him up a bit. I'll stop by later, with my whips, ball-gag, and S&M gear.
Security: Yes Captain.
Sulu: {whispers} Oh jeeze, and people freaked when *I* came outta the closet. Wait'll fandom gets a load of him.
Jerk: I HEARD THAT, SULU !

Brad might consider that an oxymoron.

As for my own actions, I was merely barking encouragement to fellow members of the pack. So now I say, bark bark howl grrr bark BARK bark bark! (Translation: If this be treason, make the most of it!)

... as was the reply (wag, wag).

This mixing of canine and Trek themes could get confusing, though. Ever try sticking your head out the window at warp 6?

Possible crossover titles:
Star Trek: The Next Litter
Scotty -- The Man and the Dog
Pointed Ears -- The Missing Link
Star Trek: Deep S*** 9
The Trouble with Kibbles

You want confusing canine crossovers ?

Check this out. SciFi/MIB, Rock & Roll (Black Dog), Substance Abuse, Slapstick, Action Thriller ... it's all in there.

Yes, my canine tongue was firmly planted in cheek when I penned those. I think I laid down a half dozen or so episodes with that character ... he was one of my favorites at the time.
