40,000 books ! {plus SciFi vs Romance DE duel}
In under a month, we have entered another 1,000 books! Great job to the whole DE team! (although we all know that Brad is dying right now, while his beloved sci-fi genre is being stifled by romance. Only by 6 books, but stifled nonetheless)
On the bright side, the dogfight between romance and sci-fi is spurring on massive book entry.
I personally lay bets on Brad, myself, and Archren triumphing over laurie in her quest for romance domination. But I may be slightly biased. Ya never know.

I keep pushing the SF stats, but gosh darn these authors that won't play nice and stay in one genre! You hit Ray Bradbury to get Farenheit 451 in there (plus Martican Chronicles, etc.) but then you end up having to add in a bunch of horror/contemporary mystery books in there (Something wicked, Dandelion Wine, etc.). What is up with these guys?!? Aren't they aware we've got a war on here?!?

LAURIE: Gosh darn it, how are we supposed to catch up if you keep adding more romance ? I just added a bunch of Star Trek stuff, and you're still in front.
Spock: Scanners are detecting ion trail traces ... possibly a cloaked ship from The Romancian Empire.
Kirk: Have they detected us ?
Spock: Their cloaking device impairs their sensor ability ... however, since you just broadcast the hail at the top of this post on an open channel, they almost certainly know we're here.
Kirk. D'oh!

Kirk: Uhura, see if you can raise the StefanY of the Jedi Council.
Uhura: Captain ?
Kirk: You heard me, Lt.
Uhura: But Captain, that's the Star Wars genre ... we're Star Trek !
Spock: Cross genre communications are theoretically possible, Lt, if you cross circuit to B.
Uhura: You did that in one of our first season episodes to juryrig the transporter ... it won't work on the communications panel !
Kirk: You're relieved. Spock, take over.
Chekov: Oooh, can I take over the Science Station, Keptin ?
Kirk: No, I need you to man the weapons and security panel.
Chekov: But ver at kondition green, Keptin.
Kirk: Why can't people just STFU and FOLLOW MY ORDERS ? Move, damn it, or I'll keelhaul your sorry a**es !!!
Spock: Captain, 'keelhauling' was declared illegal by JAG of Starfleet back on Stardate ...
Kirk: I said STFU !
Spock: Captain, this behavior is most unbecoming ...

Update:
SciFi -- 3884
Romance -- 3866
And I bet you guys are assigning genre tags to a lot of SciFi books from the ISFDB that are already in the DB, not adding new books. I don't get off that easily.
But I'm still not worried .....

Actually, in my case, I'm slowly whittling down all the placeholders in several star trek series I'd previously added. I've whittled the pile from 150 or so down to around 75 so far.
Now, looking over in Romance, I see Barbara Cartland, with roughly 650 books (mostly romance, and mostly blank ... except for genre & ISBNs).
When I'm done with the star trek placeholders, I'll gladly move over to romance for a bit and help you fill those in, on a 1:1 matching basis.

Talk to Clong, Brad.

PS. I've added info to some of the Cartland books, and will continue to do so when I find it, but I'm not gonna drop everything else just to work on them.

Ok, this it getting too much to bear ... I went to the IBDoF homepage today, and instead of a nice scifi or fantasy cover, what cover assaults my eyes ?
This
I wanted to puke.
Laurie, as soon as I'm over my bug, and as soon as free time and work schedule permits, I'm going back to hittin the ol data entry heavy bag.

Ick. That is quite serious - which side of the argument is kilt on (jk)? We could get him to code a romance-removing scriptBrad wrote:Ok, this it getting too much to bear ... I went to the IBDoF homepage today, and instead of a nice scifi or fantasy cover, what cover assaults my eyes ?

Nice cover, too. Quite tame compared to some.

Brad doesn’t have a SIG – so it isn’t news that he hasn’t changed it. Does this mean the emperor has no clothes?
MORE OT
I don’t know if this is were Laurie’s SIG comes from:
Omnia Vincit Amor
by Molly Hill (gregorypew@yahoo.com)
Who is it that allowed the blind voice to love the one with a deaf heart?
One whose story has not yet been written.
What past duty of honor ties the warrior to yesterday?
An invisible filament stronger than a steel cable.
When does the mind seek solace from itself?
After a pause, when the villain steps through the mists seperating worlds and dances at his own funeral.
Where is the wolf heard crying her exaltation and loneliness to the stars?
In the yard, slightly to the left of the suburbs.
Why does she wait hopefully, resolved to act accordingly until tomorrow comes?
Because the music is everywhere, and pervades each corner of the room.
Who is the one cloaked in shadow, whose light shines gently through the cloud of darkness?
A youth, half innocence and half madness.
What price is to be paid for the writer's reaction?
Not even the Silent Ones know.
When does the paladin see who walks behind him?
At the time that earnest prayers are answered trustfully.
Where is the refuge of the restless, the careworn, and the indecisive?
In all things, yet nowhere.
Why is the broadsword's edge still sharp, and the blade still warm, after six months?
Because his eyes are honest, and his soul of flame is more beautiful to her than his face.
If not, it's still a good poem.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you,
