Brad, it has been over three days :cold:, I think you could ask another question. Or anyone else for that matter.

1. Is this a fictional character? No
2. Is this person dead? Yes
3. Is this person a man? Yes
4. Is the person an author? No
5. Was this real dead male non-author (who wrote an autobiography) ever a professional actor ? No
6. Was he a historical figure? Yes
7. Would his name be known from a war? No
8. Was he American? No/Yes (He was not born in the US/but later became an US citizen)
9. Was he ever involved heavily in sports? No
10. Was this person a Scientist? Yes
11. Were the scientific fields of expertise in the "hard" (as opposed to the "life/organic/social/etc.") sciences ? Yes
12. Did the goomba in question ever win the Nobel prize? No

We have a winner;

Nancy used her amazing psychic powers.
Spoiler: show
Nikola Teslsa
She almost guessed the first game after just three clues.

PM me if you want the answer; or you can keep asking questions.

/Just as I thought Kilt would get the first one, I thought Nancy would get this one.

yay for me, your resident Psychic and Electrical Engineer. (hint!) or should i say "Engineer and Psychic" so it doesn't sound like i do Psychic Engineering?

does this mean i get to do the next one? the person i want to do is pretty hard, i think. but maybe you literati will be up for it!

edit (since Ghost said i could):

The *Third* - Who am I? - 20 Question Game

I am thinking of a person, real or fictional, living or dead.

The group can ask 20 questions to try to figure out the identity of the mystery person. I will only answer yes or no.

A guess will be sent ONLY via PM - and does not count towards the question count. Only one guess per person per day allowed.

The first person to correctly guess the person is the winner, and gets one (1) Sherlock point. Only one Sherlock per contest.

 Go!

Yes, Nancy go for it. :thumb:

I'll ask the first question.

1. Is this person alive?

I'll give you a small hint, 'cause I want you to keep playing! My middle name is the same as the mystery person's name because of a book my mother read when she was pregnant. My initials are N.M.H.

I had asked three out of the four questions I wanted to give some one else a chance, but since it has been two days I’ll go again (and try for another NO answer).

Was this dead fictional woman whose name begins with “Mâ€

Um, Ghost ... did you have a brain fart or something when you worded that question ? If she was fictional, she never lived at ANY time.

Ok, I've got a free guess coming ...

/me wanders off to PM ...

Nancy, This question is for Brad, I don't want you to count it as one of the 20 questions. If she never lived anywhere how could she be dead? :P

Yeah, I didn't like that the first question was whether she was alive.. I just finished reading "Sophie's World"(review coming...) and the question of the "aliveness" of fictional characters was very much on my mind. I could give another hint about her (fictional) vital signs at the close of the reader's window on her world(i.e. end of the book)... but I don't want to give anything away if you haven't read it!

These are not part of the twenty questions, just for some clarification. Don't answer if you do not want to.
NancyH wrote:1. Is this person alive? No
Did you say NO because fictional characters are not alive or because the person died in the story?
NancyH wrote:4. Did this dead fictional woman live in the 20th century? No
Did you say NO because fictional characters do not live or because the story does not take place in the 20th century?

Ghost wrote:re Q1. Did you say NO because fictional characters are not alive or because the person died in the story?
I said No because fictional characters are not alive, and also because even if we assume she was "alive" to start with(and with the normal lifetime of a human), she wouldn't be still living now. I will not reveal whether or not she dies in the story. Suffice it to say her survival does come into question in the story.

Since no one else is asking any questions and Brad is gone for his three day weekend.

Is this fictional woman a character in a Sci-Fi book?
