this is a guess-but it has to be Emily talking to Van....I think...

Hey, good job Torybear. Your turn to think up a good quote, and my turn to try and figure out this sherlock point posting.

My quotes weren't really all that elusive, were they? Do I need to find easier ones in the future? :?

If they were too easy, there would be no fun in it. :)

Here goes

Don't hurt or manipulate others and you can do whatever you have the resources to do.
...
"What is manipulation."

"The use of pscychological force, the implication of physical or administrative force to persuade another to commit actions against the well-being of another, including himself or herself."

Ok, I know I have to wait five terribly long days before doing any more quote guessing, but what about cold quotes? Do I have to wait five more days before I can guess on them? Do we even have any cold quotes?

Cold quote list

Post by RecluceMage »

OK, it has taken me nearly all day (what with all the interruptions, like having to actually do what I'm payed to do) but I have made a really nifty file. It has all the quotes that have been posted int his thread and all the answers. This having been done it is easy for me to see if there are any cold quotes, because they do not have a highlighted answer after them. I am going to post them here first for their original posters to confirm that yes, indeed, they were never answered correctly, and once that has been done then the rest of us hungry quoters can be let loose upon them.
Oldblevins wrote:I had the feeling that...had oiled his way to his present position, oozing charm from every pore as he made his way across every type of floor. He was the kind I disliked almost on sight.

Jwebster wrote:Your saving grace has been your willingness to undergo punishment for your mistakes. Accept yourself and keep that willingness, and it may be enough to protect us all.
So, if oldblevins and jwebster would please reply as to if they are still cold, then we can get going on them. I realize that there may be some debate about the last quote, and I remind you all that it is up to the Quoter to determine whether a quote has been guessed correctly.

I thought that the second post was to Loki in Timegod's wotsit, and that I had posted this ?

-------------

as to your quote it sounds parafaith war ish, but isn't - perhaps the ethos effect ? (don't know as havn't read it).

-------------------

what is the protocol if the guesser gets the book right but the character wrong - do you say that explicitly, or just say 'wrong' ? (personally, I tend towards the first.

If they are doing a drive by guess I would probably just say it was wrong...if they were relatively close then I would probably say right book wrong character vice vera.

Incidentally it is not Parafaith War

I didn't guess P W - I guessed E E from similarities. (I do hope I have the right pair of books - do I mean gravity dreams ?)

Just to keep things moving here is the quote again along with a hint.
Don't hurt or manipulate others and you can do whatever you have the resources to do.

"What is manipulation."

"The use of pscychological force, the implication of physical or administrative force to persuade another to commit actions against the well-being of another, including himself or herself."
The book is a Sci-Fi standalone

Hmm... stand alone sci-fi... I should know this one, and I think I could find it, if only I had all my books here... I'm really thinking Adiamante and Ektor DeJanes. One of my favorite books, and also one that is in storage, and not here! :slap:

Gravity Dreams, Cerrelle to Tyndel.

you didn't give the requirements to get the quote. I'm not sure If it's Cerrelle, it could be Alyshia [sp] or another.

I gave the requirements, I probably should have restated them. But regardless you are correct.

Your turn.

It sounds like something Co-Ordinater Ektor said in Adiamant - I was just looking for it - I thought he said it to the Cyb Kemra...

obviously I was wrong I guess...

Ok, here's one:
X tried a small brown cake, the one with green-and-white striped icing, forcing himself to eat it slowly, while not gagging on a texture that seemed heavily saturated with a rather raw substitute for rum.
it's as obscure as I can make it whithout making it impossible.

Oh, yes: what was the colour of the cake the other person took (in the next paragraph, to be clear). if you can reference the book and X, that will do as well.

That's not too hard, but I'll let someone else answer since I don't have any follow-up quotes handy.
