Kahrey,
I think one your top three posts was your “Cheesy Romanceâ€

Kahrey - I agree with His Honour that your "Cheesy Romance" was one of your best...dream up some more ridiculous situations like that and you'll be styling.

Ghost - I don't know why you keep going on about "not being a writer" - you had me laughing hard at the WWF demon scenario... :clap:

Perhaps you vill conzider stepping down from ze podium und getting muddy in ze trenches mit us vonce more, ja? :?:

Refer to the list of examples Brad and I posted earlier in this thread if you're stuck - there's lots and lots of possibilities. Try something new!

"Fortune favours the bold," mon amie. Give it a shot.

It's about having fun. Writing can be a wonderfully cathartic experience - sometimes stuff you didn't know was inside you comes bubbling on up and says, "Hey, DIG ME!!!"

Anything goes. :thumb:

Felonius, this is not a challenge :mrgreen: just another example, but I think you could pull this off. A 1970’s Kung Fu Theater movie with long Chinese dialogs with very short English translations.
For example:
[quote]An elderly man enters his room to find a younger man going through his private papers:

“Ah - young master, you have shown your true colors. You are a thief and a liar, you have no sense on honorâ€

I've re-organized the genre list a little, for clarity.

Animation: Japanese Anime, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering
Comedy: Comedy, Slapstick/Odd Couple, Absurdity, Whose Line is it ? (see TV)
Children: Children
Drama: Drama
Impressions (Famous Authors): Steven King (see Horror)
Impressions (Literature): Watership Down, Hardy Boys (see Mystery)
Impressions (Movies): 1950’s B-Movie Monster Flick, Beach Party
Good Omens
Fantasy: Fantasy, Modern,
Fiction: Modern Day, Urban Contemporary, Young adult
Horror: Horror, Gothic, (Steven King)
Mystery: (Hardy Boys)
Poetry: an Epic Poem, AD&D Filk, Haiku Duel, Sonnet, Prophecy
Romance: Romance, Vomit-Inducing, Cheesy
Sci-fi: Sort Of, Alien Encounter, Biotech Thriller, Drama
Spy: Anachronistic Private Eye, Spy (Secret life of Robert Mitty),
TV: Twin Peaks, Cooking Show, Soap Opera "As the IBDoF Turns", Whose line is it ? (Super Heroes)
Other: Stream-of-Consciousness, Screen Play Script, Flashbacks, Epistolary

And here's a list of unused genres for those groping for ideas:

* Action Movie
* International Espionage
* Reality TV
* Cop Show (NYPD Blue, Starsky & Hutch, TJ Hooker, Adam 12, etc.)
* Quantum Leap and/or Star Trek and/or Historical Flashback (time travel or personal reminiscence)
* Adult Movie (you'd have to edit out 80% of the action to keep it PG-13, which, in & of itself, is pretty funny)
* Broadway / Theater in the park
* Hollywood musical
* Golden Age of Radio
* Eldritch Horror (HP Lovecraft) or Ghost Story
* Dystopian
* Coming Of Age
* Burlesque (or Parody, if you like - this is your chance to ridicule something you feel deserves to be ridiculed!)
* Biography/Autobiography/Diary/BLog
* Western (think of this right after a fantasy post - magic and sorcery and then smelly cows - RICH possibilities!!)
* Thriller
* Crime Fiction
* Historical
* Apologue (a fable with a moral, like Aesop's stuff - personified animals and objects)
* Existentialist (something that points out absurdity and meaninglessness of existence)

Ok, I batted the ol vollyball in a slightly new direction, and tied up a few loose continuity threads in the process.

/me checks 'Ghost Story' off the list

A bit closer to the movie "Ghost" than a genuine campfire ghost story, granted, but it works. :P

The heart attack, and falling in love, ties in neatly with mrdude's torn out heart motif. The damage to the nerves controlling his calve tie in with the motifs of the broken ankle and gashed calve by felonius and mrdude. The motif of elliot (robert) nearly dying at the hands of brad (darb) fits in with kahrey's ongoing motif of angel of darkness / demon of light, etc. ad infinitum. I actually managed to cover a fair amount of plot turf with fairly few words.

Let's see what people do with that. :mrgreen:

Well, I guess I'll give it another go here in a bit...So if anyone else wants to go now...Go for it!

Thanks 8)

Another question on genre - should we class that as "Romance (Ghost Story)", "Drama (out of body experience)", or Movie Impression (Ghost) ?
