Sting?

Post by Elongated Man »

Sting? That funny looking monkey? Let me get this straight... you want to knock nasties with a man who would sing with Toby Keith? Grilka, please stay away from the NASCAR circuit, it's warping you, seriously, honey.

Ok, I got tired of waiting for someone to jump in, and posted.

Since I'm taking a 3 day weekend, I took the liberty of tying up (literally) all the remaining loose ends, and left the plot wide open again for the next person who happens along. All lurkers and noobs welcome.

p.s. Sorry Grilka - I sorta placed your main character in a real pickle ... no wait, I think I got that backwards

Well, you *DID* cast me as a villain. Everyone knows that the primary responsibility of any villain worth their salt is to place the 'good guy' in a pickle. I was just fulfilling my assigned role with my usual panache ;)

Oh, someone else take a whack at the plot.

ElongatedMan: You keep mentioning how you want to take the thread in a more serious direction - so let's do it. I'll gladly go along for a string of serious literary posts. :)

Yeah, I hear em.

We're waiting for someone to join in - esp now that EM seems to have developed a nasty case of writer's block

Well, he does have a baby coming any time now, guess we'll give him a break! I haven't heard from him so I don't know if he's started those sleepless nights :)

Hey cool, Trebor! Nice pass-off, wish I had time to take it right now :)

BTW you won't see me either for a bit, we're heading for Atlanta tomorrow evening & will be gone for the week. Happy 4th!!

TREBOR: Me too - I'm probably taking a 4 day weekend ... perhaps I'll jump in later today, or early next week.

GRILKA: Belated apologies for the 'pickle' thingee ... when I penned that, I nearly wet myself I was laughing so hard. I got another belly laugh rereading it just now. BTW, I definitely picture Cloris Leachman (Nurse Deisel, from "High Anxiety") as being the nurse in the final scene ... that twin-coned road-hazzard brassiere, that lemon-puckered scowl, that severe hairstyle, that stiff-backed waddle, and the neo-nazi inspired S&M uniform under her nurse whites. I howl every time I see that movie

Sorry - been busy lately. I'll get around to it eventually.

Anyone who wishes to jump in while waiting for me is welcome to do so ! :D

Ditto for you, trebor, if you wish to expand/polish your own post a bit ... there is no editing time limit on posts in this forum, provided nobody has yet posted after you ;)

Naw, not me... my mind has already moved on to what I will write next (in general terms). Gotta find a genre not touched yet... maybe "Hospital Love Stories".

I've already posted way more than everyone else, in terms of word count ... so I hereby nominate you to pen your own sequel.

You were overly terse anyway, so please feel encouraged to write in greater length and depth :)

Ya know, that damn pickle thingee has taken on a life of it's own.

I mean jebus - I threaten a secret agent with a pickle, and suddenly we have a major interplanetary phylogenic temporal war underway

Nice twist... didn't see that one coming. The one thing you gotta hate about reptiles though... they are almost never the good guys.

Check out "The Bug Wars" by Robet Asprin (not avail at B+N http://search.barnesandnoble.com/bookse ... 8063&itm=1 )

The Scalies vs The Warties

Post by Darb »

Ah, but the Reptiloid Vegans (who are carnivores, BTW .... heheheh ... I'll have to explore their dietary habits in a later post) are actually NOT "the badguys" per se in my post. "Villain" is a relative term, and I just made them seem villainous by making them large, ugly, ruthless, ham-handed, somewhat xenophobic, and capable of killing in order to accomplish their (as yet unexplained) objectives. The Pickeloids they're fighting may actually be worse - we haven't really developed that yet.

Anyway, there's an implied temporal war backdrop in my post, with the Vegans playing the role as reluctant self-appointed (and irritable) temporal guardians. Remember, the pickeloids first appear in present day ... then suddenly they appear agressively in the 1950's, and also as an advanced race in the 23rd century. Do the math and extrapolate from there ... one obvious possible conclusion is that somewhen in the future (24th+ century), they become an interstellar menace, and that they timetravels backwards past their point of origin for some yet unexplained nefarious purpose.

You guys kept upping the stakes with the pickles, so I saw all your bets, threaded the needle on a bunch of loose plot ends, and raised the kitty still further

TREBOR: The MASH bit was very nicely done, BTW. I used to watch that show religiously, way back when. :)

My apologies for hijacking your piece in an unexpected direction - however, that IS the whole point of this thread. ;)

Is there anyone who DIDN'T watch M*A*S*H religiously????

I hate to say it but I didn't read yet past the MASH post, but the comments here make it sound interesting! I'll be back the next time the baby nods off...
