47 minutes. Not bad for 12 haikus off the cuff, a little humor, spell checking, some HTML coding, and trying to make sense out of Kahrey's convoluted prophesy.

You can read all about filk over here ... it's something every well-rounded fan of fantasy & scifi should at least be aware of. My post was a thin excuse to accomplish exactly that, while also bumping the genre

The archive of lyrics on that particular site is woefully anemic compared to others that are out there on the web, but that's the first site I happened across that provided an easily linked definition with which to answer your question. Call me lazy. In any case, there are literally THOUSANDS of filk songs floating around out there.

There's a whole underground community that lives, breathes, and does nothing but filk - the next time you go to a scifi convention, check the program guide, and you'll almost certainly find a few filk-related events.

The only problem with searching the internet for filk is that it's a highly decentralized hobby, and relatively few people post lyrics because of piracy and plagurism concerns. Some people share their lyrics openly, however ...

Ok, here's another sample. This one is a 28 yr old classic, and one of the more widely known examples ...

BANNED FROM ARGO

Weird Al Yankovic writes similar music, but his preferred genre is poking fun at other professional musicians, rather than SciFi and Fantasy, so it's not really the same thing.

Well, we *CAN* still play the game without the effects of the nojshe - it just makes the segues and scene changes a bit more challenging.

Then again, the narcotic *does* make it easier for more people to play, so I suppose that's a good thing ... sorta like a free handicap.
