Kahrey very good, I liked it.
Brad, what a Filk?
I thought it deserved two points not just one, but I played around with the rule breaking, I hope you don’t mind.

You can read all about filk over here ... it's something every well-rounded fan of fantasy & scifi should at least be aware of. My post was a thin excuse to accomplish exactly that, while also bumping the genre

The archive of lyrics on that particular site is woefully anemic compared to others that are out there on the web, but that's the first site I happened across that provided an easily linked definition with which to answer your question. Call me lazy. In any case, there are literally THOUSANDS of filk songs floating around out there.
Just a few famous filkers ...
Larry Niven (Ringworld)
Mercedes Lackey (Last Herald-Mage Saga)
D.C. Fontana (Star Trek)
etc ...

Every time I open my mouth to give you a jab I show my ignorance.
I should keep my pie hole closed.
But then again I would learn about stuff like Filks and filkers, or enjoy felonius’ gard – brad anagram. So I guess I keep jabbing.

Hey, the only way to learn how to fight a south paw is to occasionally get tagged while trying to jab one

There's a whole underground community that lives, breathes, and does nothing but filk - the next time you go to a scifi convention, check the program guide, and you'll almost certainly find a few filk-related events.
The only problem with searching the internet for filk is that it's a highly decentralized hobby, and relatively few people post lyrics because of piracy and plagurism concerns. Some people share their lyrics openly, however ...
Ok, here's another sample. This one is a 28 yr old classic, and one of the more widely known examples ...
Ok enough filk for now, back on topic ...

Weird Al Yankovic writes similar music, but his preferred genre is poking fun at other professional musicians, rather than SciFi and Fantasy, so it's not really the same thing.BANNED FROM ARGO
(as reconstructed from memory by Jeremy Buhler, Mary Creasey, Kay Shapero, so no guarantee as to accuracy.)
By Leslie Fish, 1976
When we beamed into Argo 4 in search of R & R
Our crew set out investigating every joint and bar
We had high expectations of their hospitality
But soon found Argo not prepared for spacers such as we
CHORUS:
And we're...banned from Argo, every one
Banned from Argo, just for having a little fun
We spent a jolly shore leave there of just 3 days or 4
But Argo doesn't want us anymore
Our captain's needs were simple but his methods were complex
We found him with 5 partners, each of a different world and sex
The shore police were on the way, we had no second chance
We beamed him up in the nick of time with the remnants of his
pants
CHORUS
Our Head Nurse disappeared a while in the local dope bazaar
Buying an odd green potion guaranteed to cause Pon Farr
She came home with no uniform, and an oddly cheerful heart
And a painful way of walking with her feet a yard apart
CHORUS
Our proper, prim first officer was drugged with something green
And dragged into an alley where he suffered things obscene
He sobered up in sickbay and he's none the worse for wear
Except he somehow taught the ship's computer how to swear
CHORUS
Our doctor loves humanity, his private life is quiet
The shore police arrested him for inciting whores to riot
They found him in the city jail, locked on and beamed him free
Intact except for hickeys, {pause} and 6 kinds of VD
CHORUS
Our engineer can yield to none in quaffing down the brew
He outdrank 7 space marines and a demolition crew
The navigator didn't win but he outdrank almost all
And now they got a shuttlecraft on the roof of city hall
CHORUS
Our lady of communications won a shipwide bet
By getting into the planetary communications net
And now when anyone calls up from an Argo telescreen
The flesh is there, but the clothes they wear are nowhere to be
seen
CHORUS
Our helmsman loves exotic plants, the plants all love him too
He took some down on leave with him, and we wondered what they'd
do
'Til the planetary governor called and swore upon his life
That a gang of plants entwined his house, and then seduced his
wife.
CHORUS
A band of pirates* landed and nobody seemed to care
They stomped in the nearest bar and announced that they were
there
Half our crew was standing there and invited them to play
The pirates took one look at us, and turned and ran away
CHORUS
Our crew is Starfleet's finest, and our record is our pride
But when we play we tend to leave a trail a mile wide
We're sorry 'bout the riots, and the wreckage and the fuss
At least we're sure that planet won't be quick forgetting us!
CHORUS
(I wonder why?)
* note - this was originally Klingons. I don't know for sure
but suspect it was changed for copyright reasons.
Ok enough filk for now, back on topic ...
