Confusing transition? Hey, judge - with all due respect - just allow the Great Dragon to change from a literal dragon into the name of an inn and you're there!

I'd buy it as the name of an inn in medieval times!!

(just wanted to put that out there. don't want to be in contempt of the court or anything...

)

felonius, you are not out of order.

I had considered that the Great Dragon could be interpreted as an Inn. I was harsh with my ruling of “confusing”, and I should have ruled, “challenging”. In any case, motioned overruled.

I thought the transition went quite smoothly. Robert was suffering a "nojshe trip" after all. But alas! I am not the judge--and wouldn't want to be if given the chance.

Hear-yea, hear-yea, the appeal of felonius verses the IBDoF, the court is now in session. The honorable Judge Roy Bean presiding.

Be seated.

Upon review of the testimony of the expert witness, Aulfin, stating under oath that the said transition was smooth. And furthermore, due to the new evidence brought forth indicating that the prosecution’s chief witness, a Mr. Robert, was under the influence of a known narcotic, Nojshe, at the time of said continuity. The court rules in favor of felonius and awards defendant one Continuity point.

Case dismissed.

OK - I realise we haven't had everyone sound off on the sherlock idea yet - but we've had enough that I'll feel happy making my suggestion.

Here it is - that once all participants who've posted more than once to the thread have posted 10 times - their overall score get's tallied and the winner gets a shiny new Sherlock...

And then, the "Sherlock total" is reset to zero, meaning that there is a baseline cut, and the next Sherlock score is based on the DIFFRERANCE from the last time...

I do realise that this gives a natural advantage to somebody who makes many more posts than somebody else, or to express this differantly This method does giove a disadvantage to the last person to make 10 posts...

I am open to any other scoring suggestions [Esp. as I have YET to play...]

This is just an idea - and you are all welcome to come up with something more [or less].

How about a weekly winner, from Monday through Sunday? The highest total score get a Sherlock. Then you don’t have to keep track of the number of posts or penalize the tenth poster. I can go back and award two previous winners.

On another note - I think a weekly winner 12am Mon Morning to Sun Night 12pm could be another simpler and just as fair way to go...

EDIT: I'm mildy scandalized by the number of people who appear to have blown their genre point lately. C'mon guys, we haven't even come close to scraping the bottom of the ol the barrel yet. Ok, here ... I'll even help people out a bit by tossing out a few ideas I was hoarding for myself.

Great list, Gard. I agree wholeheartedly that the surface has BARELY been scratched. The world of literature is GARGANTUAN, people!

Here's a few more I thought I'd toss in:

Dystopian
Coming Of Age
Burlesque (or Parody, if you like - this is your chance to ridicule something you feel deserves to be ridiculed!)
Biography/Autobiography
Western (think of this right after a fantasy post - magic and sorcery and then smelly cows - RICH possibilities!!)
Thriller
Crime Fiction
Historical
Apologue (a fable with a moral, like Aesop's stuff - personified animals and objects)
Existentialist (something that points out absurdity and meaninglessness of existence - a personal fave of mine)
Sonnet (follow Aunflin's lead and practice some poetry!)

You can also just choose a favourite author and imitate the bugger! Make us believe you are she or he! Trust me, it's fun...

This list could go on forever....

Hey, at least I noticed & fixed it myself. Giving Tobe a backwoods drawl, making his wife a bit less pleasant, adding the dog and the firelight, and describing the door impacts a bit better gave the post a tad more ambience & depth.

So ... somebody else go.
