GHOST: What was the consensus - are we only allowed to cover each genre once in this new round ? If so, can you also post a running tally of the genres we've covered so far ?

Two hours sounds fine by me.

Anyone else?

So far THAT is the concensus. I post a tally of the genres asap, as well one with each new score.

Aunflin that was great.

I have never seen a Yu-Gi-Oh cartoon, but Aunflin described it as my 10 year old son would describe his favorite cartoon. That does not mean that Aunflin writes as a 10 year old, but that he puts a fan’s enthusiasm into his writing.

Current: Aunflin – Post +1 (obvious), Originality +1 (new genre) Entertaining +1 (I was moved), Continuity +1 (very smooth) Rule Breaker –0 (went over an hour ) TOTAL: 4

Overall Scoring

Aunflin P: 3 O: 3 E: 3 C: 3 RB: -0 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 12
Brad_H P: 2 O: 2 E: 2 C: 2 RB: -1 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 7

For everyone’s benefit and to address Brad’s concern, an explanation of genres for the Volleyball thread. Some would say genres are very broad, Sci-Fi, Animation, Comedy, Drama, etc… Some people might break Cartoons and Anime into two genres.

I beg to differ I believe that Yu-Gi-oh differs from Buggy Bunny as from Scooby-Doo as from Superman as from the Care-bears as from the Simpsons. As for the Sci-fi genre, it differs greatly from author to author and even between novels of the same author. You cannot easily classify H.G. Well’s War of the Worlds, Heinlein’s Friday and Steakly’s (sp) Armor into one category. They are so very different in style, theme and concept. Fantasy tends to have the same differences. Take Howard’s Conan, Tolkien’s Hobbit, Salvatore’s Homeland, and Modisett’s Magic of Recluce (someone would have to have very big balls to write in the world of Recluce in the Volleyball thread (may be worth a bonus point)). I could go on and on, but I think every understands now, you may call them sub-genres if you like.

That is why I said earlier be very specific with your genre and if I see a difference than any previous posts you’re fine and if not you only lose one point. DON’T sweat it – have fun. Hopefully this puts the subject to rest.

Genre used so far:

Urban contemporary, sci-fi (sort of), Hardy Boys Mystery, stream-of-consciousness, Vomit-Inducing Romance, Fantasy, Twin Peaks, Horror, comedy, modern fantasy, Japanese Anime, Yugi-Oh!

Uh-oh. The mods are coming up strong! Knew that lead wouldn't last long...

I'll try and post tomorrow - if I let myself get sucked in now I'll be sorry tomorrow at work.

Maybe I'll rent Ghost In The Shell. Haven't watched any good anime in a while apart from The Animatrix.

Good game, everybody.

p.s. I (and a few friends) briefly dabbled in card dueling for a few months (during a gap between girlfriends) about 8 years ago. So, this was a walk down memory lane for me.

There you go, Brad.

Could a moderator please delete my "all right" post that comes before my continuation? I forgot to do the edit thing as I wrote the new one, sorry.

You were right about this game being addictive.... :)

Life is a perpetual nojshe trip, mate. With it or without.

Very good felonius,

He stuttered less than I normally do under that kind of situation.

Erm, that was Felonius, not moi :P

Incidentally, I though it was hysterical that Felonius had Sayaka sit down and begin scratching away in her journal before she even finished her tantrum. Some people really are that shallow and obessive-compulsive in real life. Well done

Bonus item for anime fans: I've never actually seen the "Sayaka" series, because it isn't currently getting airplay in the USA, so instead I lifted my mental image of Sayaka straight out of the Anime series "Inu-yasha", using the character "Kagome". It was a shortcut of convenience.

Never seen the series either...I was just guessing about her "raven black" hair....with a name like Sayaka I thought it was a safe choice.

Still, that's kind of cool...

Ok, I threw everyone a curveball, by changing both the story and the format.

/me checks watch and crosses arms

43 minutes. Not bad, considering I've never done a script before. :P

Let's see what you guys can do with that.

/me queues up AC/DC's "Money Talks" :metal:

p.s. w00t ... new rank reached ("Minister of Truth"). Big Brother is watching. :deviate:
p.p.s. Kilty's gonna spray his coffee when he discovers he has a production company AND that he's a kingpin in the trash hauling business. Throw-away references are apparently the lifeblood of hollywood script writers ... I suppose it helps them avoid total boredom :deviate:

The leather has been swung ... somebody else go :deviate:

p.s. The problem with the screenplay format is that it takes a lot of content & choreography to cover relatively little action. I mean really - all I did was snap people out of their trance, and send a stranger running off down an alleyway. That's not very much, content wise.

I plan to go again tomorrow, Brad.

Help me out though:
The escaping figure comes into view, and the camera focuses in.
Figure or figures? Just wanted to clarify...thought the mysterious guy was chasing multiples.

I'll happily clarify.

Synopsis thus far (as I understand it):

* Old man (Jeff) exposes people in bar to nojshe dust.
* People in bar have an extended burst of visions (the old man leaves the bar just as they begin snapping out of it), only to promptly lapse into a 2nd wave of visions. The attentive reader is left to conclude that the 2nd burst of dust was used by the old man to facilitate his exit.
* After the people begin waking from the 2nd wave of visions (which apparently dont last that long in real time), a different figure (currently nameless) that was sitting in a darkend corner leaves the bar - apparently in pursuit of the old man (Jeff).
* The figure exits into the alley, hears footsteps, assumes it's the old man, and gives chase. Rounding a corner, he gets clobbered with a wooden plank, and the figure that did it escapes to the street.

It's the person who weilded the wooden plank who makes it to the street first. It's not clear yet who it actually is ... it might be the old man, one of his henchpersons, someone else who's pursuing him, or a complete stranger. I deliberately left it open ended, as a courtesy to the next person who posts. That way, whoever goes next has as many options for continuation as possible.

We good to go now ? :thumb:
