Naw, I think someone else should have a go first.

I'm still trying to figure out which genre I want to use next.

i may go tomorrow evening.

i just have a certain love for writing fantasy. whether it be in a made up world or this crazy one we live in. most of mine will likely be a sort of fantasy.

you can use the same genre again right? as long as its not the same one before it?

Good job friendforlife,

Where did that gasoline station come from? :?

Very good Kahrey,

You rolled all the posts back together again. The rule on continuity states if the material has been used before on the thread. Just be clear on which type of fantasy, or don’t fret your score. Just have fun.

Scoring Rules:
1] Post count [This is more for keeping an easy eye on active participants]
2] Originality [has this material been used before on this thread]
3] Humour [Can this post be considered truly funny]
4] Continuity [Did this post successfully close on the preceding post]
5] Rule Breakers [should be obvious... ]

Previous: friendforlife – Post +1 (obvious), Originality +1 (new genre) Entertaining +1 (kinda funny), Continuity +0 (I was blown out of the cave) Rule Breaker -0 (I don’t know how much effort went in to this but because this is a first post) TOTAL: 3

Current: Kahrey – Post +1 (obvious), Originality +1 (new genre) Entertaining +1 (very tense), Continuity +0 (I’m soooo … confused) Rule Breaker –0 (did not break any rules) TOTAL: 3

Overall Scoring

felonius P: 4 O: 4 E: 3 C: 2 RB: -0 TOTAL: 13
Aunflin P: 2 O: 2 E: 2 C: 2 RB: -0 TOTAL: 8
Kahrey P: 2 O: 2 E: 2 C: 1 RB:-0 TOTAL: 7
Brad_H P: 1 O: 1 E: 1 C: 1 RB: -0 TOTAL: 4
friendforlife P: 1 O: 1 E: 1 C: 0 RB:-0 TOTAL: 3

I may be looking for something smoother in the continuity but I think everyone is doing a great job. Keep it up – we’re picking up speed.

What I meant was to be sure you change the type of fantasy for each new post so you don't lose points. I know what modern fantasy is.

I was under the inpression the the rule about changing the genre was to simply be a switch from the genre in the previous post...

The rule reads 2] Originality [has this material been used before on this thread]

But I have no problem with the interpretation different from last post.

If no one objects we will use Rule 2 Originality [must be different from last post]

Hmmmm...

OK - I see that maybe I have created a good sized spot of confusion here by introducing 2 complimentary & somewhat ovrelapping sets of rules - then talking about them without being clear.

Rules:
1. GENRE HOPPING: Just to make things interesting, each new post must switch to a different genre style (i.e, Sci Fi, Horror, Gumshoe Mystery, Romance, Fantasy, Juvenile, Comedy, Anime/Cartoon, Superheroes, etc.). You must announce that genre at the top of your post, before actually beginning.

Kiltannen wrote:Scoring Rules:

5] Rule Breakers [should be obvious... ]

What I was trying to point out - is that I don't think it is "Rule Breaking" [ie the 2nd set of rules] to use a previously used genre - so long as you switch from the genre used in the post you are replying to...

I think the rule on originality is good - we don't neccesarily want to repeat material... And of course everybody agreed that we should change Humour to entertaining - which is better in my eyes too.

All of that being said - It is probably Aunflin & Ghost who have much more say in the exact rules and how they are applied. I am much more of a lurker here in the Q&F than anything else...

Ok, after all this confusion. :? I’ll try to clear up the rules and scoring.

This is what I propose:

If you do not change the genre from the last post you will receive a RB: –1 for the Rule Breakers and you do not get a point for Originality O: 0

If you change genre from the last post but your exact genre has already been used, you do not get a point for Originality O: 0, but you do not lose a point RB: 0

If you change genre from the last post and your exact genre has not been used before, you get a point for Originality O: +1, and you do not lose a point RB: 0

Sounds good to me.

However, what will we do if (or when) we go through all the various genres? There are only so many genres, after all... And if that were the case [that we manage to work our way through all genres], the score for originality would no longer apply...

Hmmmm...

Just thinking out loud.

Any thoughts...?

sorry Ghost, i misunderstood you.

im not sure, unless we could keep up with which genres were used by each person posting. then after they were all done.... i dunno really. between all of us we are quite likely to run out of them.

i guess maybe you can either get an orginality point or not.

but for those who come in later during the game, they wont have the chance to get one because al the other genres are already used up.

Come on, people! Let's keep that momentum up. I'd post myself now except I've got too much damn work to do and I'm procrastinating already just by writing this... :|

/me flushes literary toilet, and makes room for the next person.

Say, we might want to stretch that 60 min requirement out a little ... I got interrupted a coupla times by work and phone calls. I can only write during breaks.

Excellent Brad,

Who doesn’t like vampires and dark haired girls (my favorite :smokin: )

Current: Brad_H – Post +1 (obvious), Originality +1 (new genre) Entertaining +1 (vampires and anime can’t beat that), Continuity +1 (the change in ranking confused me for a second) Rule Breaker –1 (went over an hour :slap: ) TOTAL: 3

Overall Scoring

felonius P: 4 O: 4 E: 3 C: 2 RB: -0 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 13
Aunflin P: 2 O: 2 E: 2 C: 2 RB: -0 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 8
Brad_H P: 2 O: 2 E: 2 C: 2 RB: -1 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 7
Kahrey P: 2 O: 2 E: 2 C: 1 RB:-0 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 7
friendforlife P: 1 O: 1 E: 1 C: 0 RB:-0 Bonus: 0 TOTAL: 3

Propose Rule Change: Raise Time limit to two hours.

If rule change is passes I will change Brad’s score.
