The Internet Book Database of Fiction

I saw a topic like this in another forum and it's really kind of neat. It's uplifting and helps people think about the good part of the day instead of all the bad parts of the day, so I thought I'd start one here, I hope everyone likes it as much as I do. I wasn't sure where to put it so if it belongs somewhere else stick it where it should go, anyway since I posted it I guess I'll start it, here goes...

I have two for today, first:
Getting the Iowa Carnegie Library calender in the library mail. I've never seen all the Carnegie libraries in Iowa so it was really neat to get this calender and see our library along with all the other ones in our state.

and second:
Seeing my artical written for the library for the first time in the newspaper, along with my pic and everything , made me feel kind of good!

I spent my first Halloween with my son. I dressed him as a monkey and I dressed like a safari explorer. We handed out candy. I overheard a teenage punk tell his friend I have a nice ass. It's nice to know I still got one after having a nine pound kid.

One of my staff members came to work as Sarah Palin and made me laugh long and hard.

We did a deal that will save us about $12,000 this year and $25,000 a year for the next few years after this.

Final sales reports for our concert last night again indicated that our revamped marketing continues to kick serious butt over what the ASO did last year (although we had a disasterous communications failure between two volunteers that will leave me eating a lot of crow next week).

I had a fantastic curry for lunch.

Today I had "the talk" with my daughter about the facts of life. I thought it would be pretty hairy (I almost got my partner to do it) but it really wasnt all that bad. Feel good factor of good parenting real high right now!

Actually this one is for yesterday but didn't get a chance to get on here until now: Riding on the Harley through the crisp fall air, smelling the scent of the freshly combined fields and feeling the complete freedom that you can only get from riding a bike.

(1) My "baby" loves me just the way that i am. (And he thinks my wide ass is "cute.") LOL

(2) Someone threatened to go to my boss to get me in trouble for not fulfilling their every need. "We're gonna tell your boss what kind of person you are!" said he.

So, I told my boss this--just in the event that they DO call him.

My boss said, "Oh yeah? Give me their number. I'll talk to them right now."

My boss loves me.

I got a free Pictureka! game for the Youth library from ParkerBrothers for regestering with the ALA for their National Gaming Day @ Your Library that's on November 15th, free things are good!

I bought cornflakes yesterday to eat for breakfast today (discovered a while back that my digestive system seems to tolerate cornflakes better than most other cereals), so my stomach will not be hurting after breakfast today. Also, if I hurry, I can eat breakfast without any whining, nagging or other interruptions.

SHOULD have been posted on Wednesday, but I needed recovery time.

I did my presentation on my fully-relational database (FileMakerPro) that catalogs our home library at the AppleJac User Group on Tuesday night. I DID NOT speak too long (my secret fear) and my presentation was well received. This relaxed my tensions enough that I have had a breakthrough on how to handle some of the information I need to list and retrieve in the part of the database that describes my craft books.

I feel really, really good about all this.

Voted in the New Zealand elections (yesterday). We had a big 'political party' last night as we watched the results trickle in. The party I voted for got in. Then we went out for a bit of a dance.

Oh yeah, and the weather was good so I went to the beach. And I did had an $800 shopping spree and ate lots of shite food. If it wasn't for the fact I was stupidly hungover and exhausted all day it would have been the best day in a long time!

Finally getting the basement cleaned out!!Yeah I threw out so much stuff, I'm a saver I even had stuff from when I was a baby, but I got up my courage and threw it all out! My husband was so pround of me, LOL, I only saved a small amout and got rid of about 4 BIG cardboard boxes of stuff, some of it was hard to get rid of (trophies from dog shows I won when a kid, and a lot of the kids things from when they were little) but like my husband said I had not looked at it in years and some of it I even forgot I had so I probably won't really miss it after the shock of throwing it out wears off.

You are cordially invited to my house to work your magic. Some stuff in my basement (and attic) is older than I am. (My parents bought the house 4 years before I was born.)

But don't toss the Barbies. Those I'm keeping.

That's very nice of you to offer but it wasn't so much my magic as my husbands guilt filled remarks..."Do you really need this stuff? I never kept stuff like this, it's just taking up space and you didn't even remember you had it, can't you just get rid of it?" followed by..."But it's your stuff, you do with it what you want."(yeah, no guilt there right? )...that made me finally get rid of the stuff. And as for the stuff that's older than you, I know the feeling, I found a few things that were actually my mom's when she was a kid, oh say 50 years ago! Now what am I supose to do with that!!!

I can only think of one or two things that I really ever regretted getting rid of during one of my all-too-infrequent cleaning sessions.

I, like you, could do without the guilt .. but it often takes a third-party in order to honestly evaluate the value of keeping some things around.

My "What made today good?" contributions are from yesterday:

- after doing the bulk of the driving during our day of errands, I got to take a nap on the way home from the in-laws while the wife drove

- for lunch, we went to one of her favorite pizza places back home (it's just on my "okay" list) and I had the best taco pizza that I remember in a long time

I drove over to North Devon yesterday for the Armistace Day service and blessing (by the Bishop of Exeter) of our new Steam Engine.
Bitterly cold wind, but a warm glow inside.

I finally confirmed all my details for my massive holiday in the UK starting next Wednesday! Woohoo.

I also had a spectacular day of study ready for my exam tomorrow which should go pretty well.

Walking the dog at 6:00 this morning when the world is still dark, quite and peaceful.

Yay. I after what seemed like an eternity my exam period has finally drawn to a close! Exams went well, then we celebrated but having a massive party.

How I just gotta get my stuff ready for the UK!

My chinese teacher told me that I have "very very pretty chinese handwriting" and that I am almost equal to nice native writing

My friend brought the next book in a series that I'm reading for me.

Got a good deal on a car from a good dealer.

The main interest I have in cars is the practical aspect of get me from A to B, so I usually ask lots of stupid questions but the dealer really took time to explain lots of things. This (the sales service) is really important for me because if I am not comfortable with the seller I normally walk away in a huff.

I got an unexpected bonus for some work I did recently.

I guess my wife's "What made today good?" post would be that she'd manage to spend most of it by the time the weekend was over.
