I tell you what really annoys me, when your having a conversation with someone and a stranger joins in. One or two exeptions though, if theyre helpful (correction, directions etc.)

That annoys me too. And then I catch myself doing it and apologize and walk off.

Oh no, I like snakes, they do not scurry around and they eat rats. :D

It's good that "butt in" is not literal. that would make interruption ten times worse if someone came up to a conversing group with their behind first.

I now officially dislike you and all reptile lovers!
And what wrong with the odd scurry?

I like snakes AND rodents - but not NYCity rats... they're just creepy.

By the way, scurrying is the most despised mode of locomotion and any creature that moves around in such a manner can be cured of this affliction by the application of one good old stomp.

I would have said sideling, or undulating.

I think undulating motions hold a mysterious and hypnotic fascination for some people - it does for me. It is not often that you would hear someone say "Now, that was a beautiful scurry"

There exists among the reptiles an undulating scurry — did you ever see a picture of a desert "sidewinder" in a hurry?!

Here is one Rat that won't need a snake to dispose of him!
Heh Heh..
viewtopic.php?p=1772526&highlight=#1772526

My apologies to you Grim Squeaker, I do not wish to give offence, however this was no domesticated, civilised rat. This was a sewer rat which would have happily devoured it's own young, or so I suspect anyway...

I promised more of a story at a later date - well it's much later but here's a snippet of the action:

I was walking onto the subway minding my own business when I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. I glanced over and saw this rodent, sauntering along like he owned the subway.

The Rat was the size of a small cat [his body from nose to the base of his tail was the length of my size 9½ shoe] and he was obviously both used to people and rather well fed - he slunk under the wooden seat against the wall - and something snapped within my brain.

I charged in and reversing my umbrella, smacked him on the head with it's wooden handle - attempting to spear him. I must have stunned him because I was able to take a second swing, which provided the fatal blow.

I then kicked him out towards the tracks - unfortunately I must have got my toe under his body a bit - and I lofted him straight across to the opposite platform.

Not wanting to leave him lying there where some kid may have tried to pick the disease ridden thing up, I went around to that side of the tracks and nudged him over the edge onto the tracks.

After taking this belated picture...

yeah.... and then dragged me down to the subway so you could show off your prowess by pointing out how big those floor tiles are! *shudder*

Fortunately, the only thing we came across was a rather fragrant and... err.... damp homeless person on crutches and a nest of mice *considers herself to have had a lucky escape* Scarred for life, I was ;)

Soul collected. (And his name was Brian, by the way.)

In response to kilty, this is what I got when I clicked the link:

I've seen that on nature documentaries, it looks so bizzare and wantonly hurried but only a snake can bring the fascination back into the dark arts of scurrying

I wonder, what do all the other snakes think of the whole thing?

I'm not so sure about Brian. I'm thinking it was more likely Bruno, or possibly Bandini or maybe even Bartolemeus. His haunt was next door to Little Italy after all...

How does anyone become attached to a rat?

This is a serious question so NO undead theories.
