What is your favorite book cover from an L.E Modesitt book?

There are too many options to make a poll worthwhile. I definitely must say I love the cover of Cadmians Choice. If I may link to Mr. Modesitts website for an image:

I have to assume that is Mykel up there on the horse brandishing that huge rifle.

Imager has an amazing cover. The cover is intriguing, relevant, highly detailed, proportioned, and well colored.

No way! Empire and Ecolitan! It had birds shooting laser beams! Pew-pew-pew!

Sorry, couldn't resist. It's a great book, but I chuckle every time I look at the cover art.

I do like the look of Arms-Commander.

I just realized, the book could be yellow and covered in teddy bears and ballons, titled 'Dorrin's Wild Ride', but if it had the name L.E. Modesitt, Jr. on it, I would buy it, even without checking the dust jacket for a summary.

There are only two other authors who's books I buy without even stopping to see what it's about, and those are David Weber and Simon R. Green.

If Mr. Modesitt ever releases the initial Recluce series in hardback, I'm buying them.

(Not quite sure why I'm laughing, I'd be in the same waiting-line.)

Oops! Just realized this is a Modisitt forum. My bad!

Someone want to create a general "Favorite Book Cover" thread and move my post over there?

best i though was the First three in the Corean books. love the one with the Soarer on it.

Ethos effect looked great as well for my Sci-Fi vote

Jumbotron, I'd buy his works too, despite technicolor teddy bears. However, his publisher should be interested in what might bring in new readers. As much as Darrel Sweet is lauded, Donato Giancola paints circles around him. That Arms Commander cover (by who knows?) is also far better.

Joker316, I have to respectfully disagree with your preference for the Cadmian covers. They remind me of Jim Carrey's rubber face: stretched/distorted and unrealistic. Also, most of the composition for Soarer's Choice just seems to waste the opportunity given in the background space. Interesting lance, though.

I hope no offense is taken, because I have no training in art. So, my opinion is much like body odor: very personal but likely to stink. :D

I agree wth you , which is why i liked the first few covers more than the last.

No offence taken at all Brians, lol, but ty for the consideration.

I've seen other illustrations from the artist that drew the cover for Soarer's Choice, and like his other works too.

Oh, also like Scion of Cyador's cover. I enjoy seeing the Lorn on the pier with the fire cannon :)

I think Ryba's Wild Ride has a better sound to it and better imagery for me...

Is that the PG-13 version, or the NC-17 one? ;)

Neigh... I think we'd best not gallop there. Please bridle your enthusiasm or mom will say it's pasture bed time.

There, is that punishment enough for going family unfriendly? :D

What I don't like about that one is the very unrealistic looking waves/flames coming out of the front of the Fire Cannon.

at least it looks like the artist has read the work or at least had a instruction on what is happening in the book. The worst thing is when a book cover shows a scene that doesn't even happen in the book or portrays things so differently.
