I have the Australian dvds on order. These are apparently the nearest thing to uncut and have roughly 1hr30 longer running time than the UK dvds. This is series one only of course, there is no evidence that series 2 was ever edited.

Also, there is a Spanish set (the box looks lovely!) available but I don't know if they are uncut/dubbed/subtitled etc.

Series 1 is being shown again in the UK on UKTV Drama in December (5am!) so I'm going to see if they are uncut and make a concerted effort to get decent dvd copies!

Goodness, the things we have to go through...

*giggles*

Does the Australian DVD('s) have English subtitles ?

How come they never released uncut versions in the UK?And why have they been cut?
Anyone know? :)

Hi All,
The DVDs have never been released in the US, so of course, I am very FRUSTRATED. I am thinking about getting a "region-less" "multi-region" DVD player and then once this is done, purchase either the English or Australian releases.

Any advise as to which ones I should look for?

Great to see all of you back posting!

Hi Rita

My Australian dvds are en route to me. Once I've had a chance to look at the and see what's what I'll let you know what's the best set to get. They have to be better than the UK ones which were mercilessly shredded. I've heard that the Australian ones are far better.

Thanks Sarah!

I am determined to have the DVDs. My copies (VHS) of the series are not the complete series as it was originally aired. My memory (even in my senior moments) remembers scenes that just aren't on my tapes.

Can't wait until you get yours and do a viewing!

Well, they turned up today and from a very cursory viewing they certainly seem to be uncut. There are about four Caroline/Dwight scenes which were cut (sorry, I have to get my priorities right!) and they are present and correct, thankfully. I have a list of odds and sods that were cut from series 1 and I'll go through those and check this week.

But it definitely seems like the Australian dvds are the way to go... :D

Hi Sarah,
Sounds like a winner! Now my next step is to find a good region-free DVD player. Anyone have any suggestions? And of course, where did you get your DVDs?

Thanks so much for the information. I will look forward to anything else that you can add.

I think it's still very odd that there are two versions of the series, a cut and an uncut version......wish I knew earlier, wouldn't of bought the English ones .......

Are there any scenes of Drake and Morwenna that may have been cut from the UK version?

Well, I went and did it! I bought a "code-free" DVD player and best of all the Australian DVDs. Needless to say, I have not watched them yet, but tried one disc on the DVD player to see if it would really play. It looks great and I already found 2 things that were not included in the tapes that I have.

I am looking forward to a quiet holiday nestled in front of my TV watching the wonderful Poldarks!

To all of you a wonderful holiday and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
