Dangerous Visions

A groundbreaking and influential anthology of thirty-three short stories of "speculative fiction." Several of them are quite strong, but there were a few that didn't do much for me and even a few that I found essentially incomprehensible (the Carol Emshwiller story comes to mind). The Philip José Farmer, Philip K. Dick, Fritz Leiber, Joe L. Hensley, James Cross, Sonya Dorman, and Keith Laumer stories were my favorites. The introductions (by Ellison, except for his story), and afterwards (by the individual authors) added a lot to the collection, and gave a great sense of perspective on the how science fiction writing evolved in the 1960s. All serious scifi fans should read this collection.
