Boat of a Million Years, The

I've generally enjoyed the several books I've read from this author, but not this one. In fact, this is one of the very few books I can ever remember giving up on after reading halfway through. The basic premise--immortals who live on and on while those around them die--seemed to offer some room for interesting development, but I found myself with no empathy for or even interest in the protagonists. Maybe it got better in the second half; I don't think I'll ever find out.
