I think it's in the Brothers in Arms but I don't have the time right now to dig it up.

I have the answer but I had asked the previous question so normally I am barred from answering. But this getting so cold..
Ghost and/or clong, please give advice:
Should I post the answer?
After (giving others a change to play) five days you can jump back in and win the Sherlock no questions asked (pun intended).
Answer away.

OK, but Blackwing just mentioned the correct book.
So Blackwing: I count the five days from your last posting, if you don't give the context within that time to win the Sherlock I will.

I agree :-).

I'd only give him 48 hours, but then I'm overly competitive.

OK, then, 48 hours from this post, that's about three days from his.

Well, that sounds quite OK to me. RK, are you there?
I can't imagine her not agreeing, the book and chapter are correct and the situation is described quite appropriately.
Since we lost quite some time alfready, I would suggest you post the next question now, Blackwing, RK can regularize your Sherlock later.

PS: there is a nice typo above, which I am leaving on purpose, so noone can say I am not egocentric.

OK.
"Thank you for coming. Why don't you go study the exhibits for a while."
The book, who said it, and the situation.

Mirror Dance, chapter thirteen.

Gregor, to Ivan.

Ivan has chaperoned Mark to Vorhartung Castle and is dismissed by Gregor to cool his heels in the hallways while the latter can have a serious talk with Mark, the kind of X-ray talks where you feel more naked than naked.

"He's not so short," said XXX defensively. "He's just... concentrated."
Book?
Who is "He"?
Who is XXX?
Whom is this told to?

Ok, the new quote:
I am still . . . unclear, just what your place was in these recent events. And how you came by it.
What book?
Who is speaking?
To whom?

Cetaganda

To: Miles, of course (who else?)
Speaker: I first thought it was Ghem-Colonel Benin, but could not find the quote, and I finally found the truth: the Cetagandan Emperor Fletchir Giaja himself!

If XXX took you off to some quiet, isolated place right now and offered you a glass of wine with his own hands, would you drink it?
Book?
Who is XXX?
Who says that to whom?
And what is the answer the person asked the question gave?
