I think enough of it is correct to give him the point and the quote(especially since the missing details have been filled in here). Congrats, JKCade!

Sorry about my lack of timeliness. The last few days have been distracting.
Waiting patiently for the next Lois McMaster Bujold book.

"No!" cried XXX indignantly. But then, deflating, "Not on purpose."
"Betray them for money?"
"No! The bribe came later, just to make it look that way."

Book?
Who is XXX?
Who is replying?

(because I added a line IN FRONT of the quote, I had to change the questions slightly. Apologies for any confusion)

YYY hadn't even gone looking for evidence of bribes, yet. Ah, yes, deliver yourself into my hands, ZZZ. You know you want to. Then what did happen? In your own words.

Book?
Who is XXX?
Who is YYY?
Who/what is ZZZ?

Answering from memory

Book? Cryoburn
Who is XXX? The doctor who claims to love Jin's mother.... Lieder?
Who is YYY? Miles
Who/what is ZZZ? The doctor's employer and source of the bribe, some executive(s) of New Egypt, I believe

"Never do yourself," muttered XXX, "what you can con an expert into doing for you. That's what he'd say. Tactical judo from the space magician himself."
Book ?
XXX ?
"he" , the space magician ?
Who/what is the expert, in this case?

Bonus: for one extra 1/2 point :
What will the expert be conned into doing for XXX, so that the latter won't have to do it ?

A small hint, and a further bonus

XXX uttered, or rather muttered, these words mostly thinking aloud ("he", the space magician, also used to think aloud) rather than to communicate to whoever was present.

Bonus for another extra 1/2 point :
Still, who else was present at that time ?

A longer quote
"Never do yourself," muttered XXX, "what you can con an expert into doing for you. That's what he'd say. Tactical judo from the space magician himself." xxxs straight back held the dynamism of zen meditation. When xxx turned xxxs face was radiant with jubilation. "Yes, that's exactly what he'd do! ... ... ... , ... ... ... !" xxx saluted an invisible presence and dove for the comconsole.
Book ?
XXX ?
"he" , the space magician ?
Who/what is the expert, in this case?

xxx is the personal pronoun for XXX (he, she or it) and xxxs the corresponding possessive pronoun (i.e. his, her or its)
I have suppressed a six-words sentence and replaced it by dots, as that would be too strong a giveaway. I left the exact punctuation where it stood.
A small hint:
XXX uttered, or rather muttered, these words mostly thinking aloud ("he", the space magician, also used to think aloud) rather than to communicate to whoever was present.

Bonus 1: for one extra 1/2 point :
What will the expert be conned into doing for XXX, so that the latter won't have to do it ?

Bonus 2 another extra 1/2 point :
Though the muttering was not really directed to whoever was present, still : who else was present at that time ?

Bonus 3 for still another extra 1/2 point :
Fill in the dots.

A still longer quote, more hints:
"Never do yourself," muttered XXX, "what you can con an expert into doing for you. That's what he'd say. Tactical judo from the space magician himself." xxxs straight back held the dynamism of zen meditation. When xxx turned xxxs face was radiant with jubilation. "Yes, that's exactly what he'd do! ... ... ... , I love you !" xxx saluted an invisible presence and dove for the com console.
YYY glanced dismayed inquiry at ZZZ, who shrugged helplessly.
The image of an alert-looking clerk in pine green and sky blue materialized above the vid plate.
Book ?
XXX ?
"he" , the space magician ?
YYY ? ZZZ? (it is OK if you get them backwards)
Who/what is the expert, in this case, that the clerk in the last line of the quote will put in motion ?

I have suppressed the three first words of a sentence and replaced them by dots, as that would be too strong a giveaway. I left the exact punctuation where it stood.
More hints:
XXX uttered, or rather muttered, these words mostly thinking aloud ("he", the space magician, also used to think aloud) rather than to communicate to YYY and ZZZ.
"he", the space magician, the habitual thinker aloud, is never actually seen in this book, but there are many allusions to him besides the one in this quote.

Bonus 1: for one extra 1/2 point :
What will the expert be conned into doing for XXX, so that the latter won't have to do it ?

(YYY and ZZZ now belong to the main question)

Bonus 2 for still another extra 1/2 point :
Fill in the dots.

Book ? Ethan of Athos
XXX ? Ellie Quinn
"he" , the space magician ? Who else but Miles
YYY ? ZZZ? (it is OK if you get them backwards) Terrence Cee, Ethan (pretty sure in that order. Ethan's supposed to know Quinn better.)
Who/what is the expert, in this case, that the clerk in the last line of the quote will put in motion ? Quinn wants to rescue Teki who is being interrogated in the Millisors' quarters, so she gets the experts (the Biohazard people on Kline Station) to get in there by claiming General Millisor gave her a disease.

The ellipses stand for Sneaky little dwarf

Also, ran across a GalacTech reference while I've been re-reading the series. Apparently, the cat blanket was made by GalacTech.

Correct on all counts, even the order or YYY=Cee, Ethan=ZZZ

So you get the next quote, one sherlock for the main question, and two more bonus 1/2 points

Edit
Sorry , I initially did not check correctly : all the GalacTech bonuses have been collected. If not exactly just when I did propose them, at least still long ago.
So Spetty gets just 2 points, nor 2 and 1/2.
But of course the next quote is still hers ! And still kudos for winning 2 points on a single go !

Actually, my personal life just blew up a little over a week ago (my father passed away, and my mother needs someone with her all the time). Would anyone else like to post a quote instead, and we can save that one for some other time?

Dear Suzette
I'm so sorry to hear of your father passing away and your mother's sad situation.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences, and my best wishes for your mother recovering as much as a recently widowed person can recover.
Don't worry about the game, I'll take care of it.

Take care of your mother and of yourself
Best wishes
Alfred

Thank you. It really means a lot to me, more than I can say. My dad read a lot. I'm sorry now that I didn't introduce him to LMB, in part because not only are the characters amazing human beings, but every fan of her work that I've talked to is an amazing person, too. Especially my fellow quote fans. :)
Waiting patiently for the next Lois McMaster Bujold book.

My dad died at 62, generally considered much too young, leaving my mom widowed for 25 years till she passed at 88. She too needed my (her only child's) presence for the first couple of weeks after my dad's death.

I've attended multiple funerals since then, but except for the standard platitudes, I still don't know what to say to bereaved people.

Then I remembered the aftermaths to Lois McMaster Bujold's Cryoburn. A final page that left an everlasting impression with me and I promptly reread it.

If this suggestion is inappropriate I humbly apologise. But anyway, my sincere condolences go with it,

Francis

Well, I promised Suzette that I'll take care of the game.
So let's go on.
"If you can open a picnic cooler, you can do this."
Book?
Speaker?
"you" ?
do what ?

Bonus: a similar scene takes place in another book of the same series. For 1/2 point, name the book and the equivalents of the speaker and "you". There is some dialogue, there, too, but the phrase "picnic cooler" is not used there.

Answer to fourth question: close a picnic cooler!
No, sorry.
Besides, it is much easier to open a picnic cooler than to close it:
a) if you just filled it at home, you first have to be a professional geometer to fit everything in. Once that is done, opening it will be easy.
b) if it is after the picnic, the volume of the ants inside the cooler is certainly much larger than the amount of food you were able to extract, so once more, it is harder to close it than it was to open.

"If you can open a picnic cooler, you can do this."

Book? Barrayar
Speaker? Cordelia
"you" ? Aral
do what ? They are opening the uterine replicator containing Miles.

For the bonus:
Book? Diplomatic Immunity, when Miles and Ekaterin open their two replicators.
Miles asks Cordelia, "How did you do all this, back then?"
To which she replies, "Aral lifted one latch...and I lifted the other."

Bonus: a similar scene takes place in another book of the same series. For 1/2 point, name the book and the equivalents of the speaker and "you". There is some dialogue, there, too, but the phrase "picnic cooler" is not used there.
