Here's the next quote :
Speaker, listener, book, and +1/2 point if you manage to guess exactly XXX without looking in the book."Y'know," [...] "if you'd quit while you were winning, right after XXX, we'd be on our way home right now."

Well, we had a rather rainy week-end, in fact, reading and watching TV...Caroline Tredez wrote:Hope you all had a good week-end ^^.

Book?"Mm," said XXX in a judicious tone, "though it does make it easy to be a recluse. If you're repulsive enough, people spontaneously avoid you."
For your altruism, orchestrali, to delay your opportunity to win a sherlock for the superior good of the collectivity, namely the prompt continuation of the game, I give you my sincere thanks !orchestrali wrote:Argh, I should have guessed that one! I'd have been right! Well, as punishment for myself I will offer a new quote (see, now I'm delaying my next opportunity for a Sherlock).
Argh! I know this one but I punished myself by promising not to answer it at all, even after 5 days.orchestrali wrote:Book?"Mm," said XXX in a judicious tone, "though it does make it easy to be a recluse. If you're repulsive enough, people spontaneously avoid you."
XXX?
Listener?
Method of making oneself repulsive?
Let's try a bonus. I can think of two other instances of characters attempting to repel people using the same method under discussion in this quotation. They did have other reasons for using this method, but I think being repulsive was one of their goals. There may be more instances that I've forgotten. So, a half point for giving one of these, with character, book, and a little context.

Well, okay, as no restrictions, punishments or dire warnings apply to me (I think), I'll give it a go.voralfred wrote:why don't you just try your chance on this one?
Ah, yes, of course.Caroline Tredez wrote:I suspect you got all 4 bonuses, but not the main one yet ^^.
"Mm," said XXX in a judicious tone, "though it does make it easy to be a recluse. If you're repulsive enough, people spontaneously avoid you."
But I am not sure it counts. Does Bothari needs drinking to be repulsive ? Probably not....Bothari was by this time pretty thoroughly tanked.
Another 24 hours and you can answer, Caroline, since obviously you recognized the quote....orchestrali wrote:(…)
Here's the quote again, so you don't have to scroll up:"Mm," said XXX in a judicious tone, "though it does make it easy to be a recluse. If you're repulsive enough, people spontaneously avoid you."

But I was thinking of another bonus, and I am surprised that it is not one of orchestrali's initial list.E Pericoloso Sporgersi wrote:Hmm, I can't remember all that many characters who would want to purposefully be repulsive by excessive drinking.
