What's the question (paraphrased is fine)?

What book?"But it's not a risk. It's a certainty. And YYY dies the same, and XXX is destroyed."

Which book?"I thought you said Xxx was the great seducer in the family." She tried to muster the energy to take her hand back again, and failed.
Well ... as a first step we can eliminate Taura. Right?SPetty wrote:New quote Is:Who is Xxx?"I thought you said Xxx was the great seducer in the family." She tried to muster the energy to take her hand back again, and failed.
I beg pardon. An acute bout of omphaloskepsis muddled my thinking.SPetty wrote:New quote Is:Which book?"I thought you said Xxx was the great seducer in the family." She tried to muster the energy to take her hand back again, and failed.

Who is Xxx?
Book, who's talking to who, and what is "your fault" ?"It's actually your fault [...]" "Oh? And me so... not there." XXX grinned. "When has that ever stopped anyone from blaming you? [...]"
Considering how hard the first quote is, I'd say two fullSPetty wrote: Voralfred, do you think it's 1 1/2 or the full 2 Sherlocks?

Be my guest, my acceptance (or not) of your guess will be my first hint, then.voralfred wrote:is it OK to answer the bonus first?
No, no. Had Ivan proposed earlier things might really have turned different. I am thinking of a case of Miles putting the blame on Ivan for something he had absolutely no influence on, just like Miles had nothing to do with Alys and Ilyan's affair, a totally out-of-the-blue gratuitous accusation.SPetty wrote:There's the spot in ACC where Lord Dono says that the whole situation (with the sex change) is Ivan's fault for not thinking of proposing sooner. (Not related to the quote, or the bonus, I think, but possibly what Voralfred was thinking of.) It's not my turn for the quote yet, so I'm not looking for it.

So, next one :Book, who's talking to who, and what is "your fault" ?"It's actually your fault [...]" "Oh? And me so... not there." XXX grinned. "When has that ever stopped anyone from blaming you? [...]"
Bonus for a half point : find another instance of a discussion about shifting the blame to another innocent bystander, in another universe. (ok, I'll grant a full point if one points two such instances, but no more - I'm thinking about a precise one, here).
Well, it really only would have changed things had Lady Donna accepted. It was hard to tell from the book whether she would have (though if he'd proposed before Pierre had died, I think it would be a completely different situation). Point taken though.voralfred wrote:
