I'm waiting for this :).

Shards of Honor, Aral, Bothari, Cordelia

Because she's born on Barrayar :).

It was really hard. In LMB's books women don't cry :-). I was thinking about Paladin but couldn't find. I don't know why but I placed this in Barrayar so was again looking for :-).

Book?
Reede Kullervo wrote:
Shards of Honor
Correct
And indeed, when looking for hte passage to ask the question, I also first looked in Barrayar and only after not finding it decided to look in Shards

"she"?
Reede Kullervo wrote:
Aral
No, that was Elena Bothari ;)

XXX and YYY?
Reede Kullervo wrote:
Bothari, Cordelia
The answer was Aral and Bothari ;)

ZZZ?
No answer!
The correct answer was Cordelia
;)

But because I am vey generous I will still grant you the Sherlock and the next question, because:

Bonus
Reede Kullervo wrote:

is correct and clearly refers to baby Elena!

So one extra half-point

Finally a quote that I know where to start looking for! :)

Book: Vor Game
Who said that: Gregor
Who is she: Cavilo
To whom is said that: Miles
The Princess Bride.
Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, ho-hum fairy tale.

Their eyes were glassy and reproachful, as X leaned precariously overboard and tried to collect them with the net.
The book?
Who's X?
Who else is in the scene?
Where is this taking place?
What is being described?
The Princess Bride.
Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, ho-hum fairy tale.

Book: Memory chapter 20, about 1/3 or 1/4 from the end

X is Miles, and Simon Illyan is present too.
Both are fishing in a boat on the Long Lake at Vorkosigan Surleau.
After some unsuccessful angling Miles decided to use a faster method that would be highly illegal if the whole lake hadn't been his. The glassy reproachful eyes are those of the fish he had just "depth-charge"-d.

"I wouldn't ask XXX for the time of day. Nor would he give it to me." YYY1 brooded. "ZZZ would hint obliquely where I might find a chrono. You..." his metaphor extended itself, unbidden, "would give me a clock."
"If I had one, YYY2, I'd give you *****," WWW sighed.
Book?
Who are XXX, YYY, ZZZ, WWW?
Any unambiguous designation of the characters will do, neither YYY1 nor YYY2 as appearing in the quote are needed.

Bonus: Exactly how are XXX, YYY (two occurences with different appelations), ZZZ and WWW called in this particular quote? And fill in the blank: what would WWW give to YYY?
Even the bonus might just barely be answered by memory (if you have and eidetic chip in your brain, of course)

XXX is Simon Illyan
YYY1 is Mark
ZZZ is Gregor
YYY2 is son
WWW is Cordelia

Book is Mirror Dance as Mark starts talking about wanting to go back to Jackson's Whole (pg 339 in my edition).

Bonus: Cordelia would give Mark a clock factory, if she had one.

Ahem...
The answer is certainly correct, so you get the Sherlock and the next question, but as for the bonus.. is there a difference between our editions? One of the five exact names differs in mine, though the character is correct. Could you recheck? I keep the bonus back for a while.

You're right.. the exact text uses her title instead of her name, so it's Countess not Cordelia.

He dared not say more until he'd decanted XXX in private. There were security angles, political angles, personal angles--how many angles could dance on the head of a pin?
Who is he?
Who is XXX?
What book?

Who is he?
Who is she (her contrack)?
Who is Xxx?
Who interrupted private discussion?
Which book?

"And this was your friend?" XXX raised XXX's eyebrows. "Seems to me the only difference between your friends and your enemies is how long they stand around chatting before they shoot you."
Book?
Who is XXX? (XXX's really means "his", "her" or "its", of course)
Who is "you"?
Who is "your friend"?

Here's the next quote:
"Don't be afraid," XXX said. "The dead cannot hurt you. They give you no pain, except that of seeing your own death in their faces. And one can face that, I find.'
