-==0==-

Man, oh man, I'm losing resolve.
Days go by and weeks revolve.
Still, most of my problems I think I could solve
If winter's ice would just dissolve.

Image

Some exemplar sentences/rhymes just don't fit their season. It is fall here, as this post is done, and winter's ice is probably a long way off. Most people around here would hope so. And, it's also obvious that I didn't work too hard on a winter scene, substituting a glass of ice water for that.

I was also surprised to see how long this definition is. In the page on Merriam-Webster, the definition text is even longer with example phrases often added to the end of a line. Fortunately, there's space here on this beloved forum so that no harsh trimming is necessary.

The cascading stream lacked an audible cadence,
Bouncing along with no kind of impatience.
Still it showed the seasons' regularity,
Though in the deep south there is less disparity,
Freezing to ice in the bitter depths of winter
Sheeting over the rocks, with an occasional splinter.
Then back to burbling flow in the spring
When bunnies creep out and all the birds sing.

When the sergeant asked who had experience with PCIe cards, Sam stepped 3 paces forward.
The sergeant said: "Ah, we have a volunteer. Good of you, private Jenkins, you're assigned to latrine duty for 6 weeks."

Later in the mess, Sam's buddy scolded him: "You're in the army now. That means you do NOT volunteer. Ever!"

podcast

noun
pod·cast | \ ˈpäd-ˌkast \
a program (as of music or talk) made available in digital format for automatic download over the Internet

-==0==-

Many words used in this series have been archaic. Podcast is an interesting inversion, being new enough that people from before about 1900 would not have a clue about the meanings of most words in the definition, much less the word itself. Program, as live performance or recording would have meant something to listeners of radio, and later. Digital format would have meant little before about the introduction of computers. The internet is from just around 1990. Downloading is also very recent.

Instead of ever using cloying I would prefer to use the french écoeurant.
Because écoeurant has so much more meaning, such as "it tears the heart out of it", among others.
